I got a truck but it's already borrowed out. Having a truck = friends LOL

So, my hood release releases easily from the emergency thing in the grille, and the cable moves easily, but once it gets to the "release" point I have to pull it so hard I feel like I'm going to break it to get it to release. It' doesn't feel like it's that far in the travel. Is it a stretched cable? Where does it run so I can check it out?
