I tend to carry 3 books, a couple note books, food, and my laptop. Its not uncommon for my backpack to way 30lbs. If i can take a couple pounds off my bad back in exchange for a slightly smaller screen then i'm all for it. I try and get as many PDF books as i can and only bring books when i have to. The ultrabooks are so light i often find myself double checking my bag to make sure i did not forget it.

i hear you, i'm in the same boat. the slightly extra weight doesn't really bother me all too much, especially since i'm sitting down more than i'm walking. i can't do any editing with those smaller screens, which is why i settled with the 15 as i thought the 17s were way too big and bulky and the weight was a huge difference. plus, for the price, i couldn't complain. now if they only made all books pdf. that'd be great.
