    3 things to remember.

    - Make sure you mark the driveshaft halves before separating.
    - Make sure arrows on guibo point the right direction.
    - Push CSB towards the front of the car before tightening.

I've read the pelican article several times. got all that down. all new hardware as well.

not concerned about the processed or the technical side of it. really just don't want to see rust pockets, or driveshaft damage.

so no one answered my wire question from a couple days ago:

whats the plug just above the battery in the trunk? two wires that end at a plug that resembles a small clip.

I've unplugged it and driven it around but didn't notice a difference. I can run outside and take a picture if need be.

Maybe a ghetto radio install or something?
I don't think there are any plugs near the battery?

I drove it to work today, so I ran outside and snapped a few pics. it almost feels as though the assembly is connected to the gas cap/neck. maybe a warning sensor if the gas cap is left off?

Gas door lock would be my guess.

                  found it:

#2 filler flap actuator. whatever that means. maybe it originally locked the gas cap lid for security purposes.

I'll be removed the wire and related components tonight haha.

Gas door actuator. When you lock/unlock the doors, it also locks/unlocks the gas cap door.

Yup, I almost ripped my gas cap door off one time not realizing I locked the doors while my keys were in my pocket.

Lol when I first got my e36 I took a drive to Sacramento. Stopped to get gas and my fuel lid wouldn't open, so I forced it open lol. Can't remember if my doors were locked, I usually don't lock them when I get gas. Whatever lol
