Frank Fahey Motorsports - THUMBS DOWN!

So I call them up to get an estimate on installing a myriad of new parts. Frank was the person who I talked to. I am very polite on the phone, and just trying to find a decent place locally to get some things done.

I get halfway down my list of parts I have and he tells me, "Nah, I'm not interested on doing anything on your car."

Wow. Maybe he only works on race cars or something, but their website seems to cater to all BMW owners. Guess sway bars, bbk, and diff install is not a big enough job? LOL.

Were you providing the parts? A lot of times shops don't like to use parts that customers provide for legal and warranty reasons.

    91 m42 ftw

find a few SOCal R3Vers, get an endless supply of beer and pizzas and DIY it.

but yeah, thats pretty fucked up of them to do that to you.

It's like I have to beg shops to give them business.

I am not a DIY type person. No garage, no tools, no patience. Plus if I'm not at work, I'm partying in TJ! LOL.

They are all brand new parts minus the LSD. Still he could have been nice about it. Maybe more like, "Sorry sir, we do not like to take on jobs if you don't buy the parts from us." Or something along those lines?

Instead of gaining a customer, all he did was make sure I would NEVER even think about taking my car to him.

I agree with that, it's his loss of work.

Maybe he hates offset cabs, or maybe there's more to the story. I wonder. I can't imagine these items turned him off of working on your car.

                    QUKBMER, I'm in San Diego.

And Frank, I have no idea what his problem was as he hung up with no explanation. In these tough times you would think shops would want the business!

Any wrenchers in SD want to make some side money, let me know.

I even have an e36 steering rack I would like installed.

Maybe he's just having a bad day, I don't know, I don't know him, but I agree with you on thinking a business would not turn down easy work in these tough times. Found this on his web site:

                        Specialty Services
Need something custom made for your BMW? Have an idea you would like to see become reality? Call and talk to Frank. He is always looking for another challenge or two.

Can't imagine what turned him off, but another poster had the right idea, get some beer and r3v help! Your list is not that tough. Good luck!

Yep, I have had work done there. Good guy. Just a little out of the way for me, and he is booked often.
