I met him a few times a long time ago at autocrosses across Southern California (L.A., S.D., etc.) and I cant say Im surprised at his reaction. Never seemed like a down-to-earth kind of guy always bringing his over-the-top fabricated creations to the autocrosses and giving off an air of superiority and douchebaggery. I dont like down-talking people, but this guy always gave me that impression. Im only saying this because it seems like what I suspected was correct.

He does do good work, as I stated earlier in this thread, I have had work done by him. He's just always booked, and far from me. Great guy though.

I'll probably go to Oceanside Motorsports, as he is only about 30-40 minutes away. I was just hoping to find something closer. I work way down south in Chula Vista, and my E30 is my daily driver.

If you were in LA area I'd tell you to come to our shop (Castros). Since you're in SD, you should call the guys at Big Fish Motorsports. Great guys, reasonable prices, and local to you.

You wanted to bring ur E30 to Fahey Motorsports for that??? ahhhh no wonder. He's been around a long - long time, worked on or has an M1 and has an S38 powered E30 M3 he was trying to sell for $60K. He has some high end clientele and probably decided a) he's got enough customers b) he can't make enough off you to make it worth his time. Seriously though, find a smaller grass roots BMW shop. Preferably one that's trying to build a name for itself.

Wait a minute. So after you become successful and own a few cool cars, it's ok to shit on potential customers? Oh now I get it!

Just because I am not a "high end" customer now, doesn't mean I couldn't become a "high end" customer later.

I deal with clients who won Rolls Royces, and I work with clients who own Kias. I treat them all the same. With courtesy and respect. But what the hell do I know? I've only help build a handful of multi-million dollar companies.

Now I get it. You probably came off as arrogant and Frank didn't feel like dealing with it.
