Ha, no that was a typo. I know U in LA. I was simply expressing that I will have some personal consolation for missing b-fest by getting some work done at Castros while I'm up in LA producing a record.

Wait.... youre in the recording thing? Thats what I went to school for! L.A. Recording School for the Audio Engineer program!! Damn now we really have to meet. I have some cool stories from my short time working in said industry. I miss those days so much.... Ideally, thats what Id be doing with my life had I not been circling around the toilet after I graduated from recording school in 2008 to finally go down in 2010.

It's not as glamorous a living as it sounds. Honestly, you're lucky you got out while you did. For example, this week long session that I was supposed to go do, that was going to make me a niiiiiice chunk of change got cancelled 24 hours before it was supposed to start. Leaving me scrambling for cash to try to cover some bills and eating tuna cans for a week. Also, means no Castro's magic touch for me this week.

It has it's moments. Being a gearhead is interchangable between recording studio gear and the auto world. And being a musician myself, I've always had plently of opportunity to record my own music. But most of the time, you are underpaind and overworked, stuck in a room without any windows, working with complete hacks with 0 talent, and eating very poorly. In the last 10 years, I've watched my average pay drop by 50%.

Back in NY, I had other sources of income that I shouldn't divulge on the internet. And if you ever want to get into engineering, I recommend doing it as a side gig, for fun. Keep it fun. Don't try to make it your living. You will be miserable.

          SORRY FOR THE THREAD JACK!!

PM me sometime if you wanna talk shop.

See? Thats where I was different. I didnt give a fuck about the glamour or the money. Never did. I was doing it because I loved doing it. I have been very adamant about perhaps not being paid so much, but loving what I dd every day. True the schedule did get really tedious and youre at the call of the artist and their schedule. I wasnt in the 90% of the clowns in recording school that wanted money and fame and to be a "producer" like Dre. It was already going down when I was in it and yeah, you are forced to work with whoever pays for the session be they good or painfully mediocre (most of them). I am just passionate about recording and mixing music. Sucks that the position is becoming devalued since people can record in their homes now and less demand for us and were the ones who get the shaft in terms of pay. Shit rolls downhill. True about everything youve said. Now we NEED to meet, man.... no joke.
