So was I! 318i/325e was more common since they were cheaper. The i or iS was the shit back then and more expensive. I remember a guy chasing me in his 318i asking if my 325e was an iS! I had my 325e all fixed up and got pulled over daily. Young people just didn't drive nice BMW's back then. If you did, it meant you were a drug dealer, especially if you're brown skinned. Today it's no big deal but back then if you had a 325iS, you were the man. M3's were ultra exclusive. I never saw M3's unless it was at a CCA club meeting.

In '92 I was already obsessed with cars, including the e30 m3. Being only 6 years old though I was a much bigger fan of all the super cars, and I especially loved hot rods! The non-M e30s didn't appeal to me until '97 when my friend's dad had a '90 Brilliantrot on black 325is coupe. He used to rip around in that thing and I fell in love with it! :D
Didn't get my first e30 until 2006. I was going to buy my buddy's '89 iS Senoir year in high school, but my parent's wouldn't insure a car that they new i would modify and get into trouble with...
I can proudly say that I was the FIRST in the LA area to complete and own an s52 swapped e30, and one of the first in CA period. So I'm a 24v OG!
