People can "sense" when another person is making good health decisions without needing to say a thing about it. In the profession that you appear to be moving towards the above fact is something that subconsciously speaks volumes about the kind of care that one can expect.
Dig in for the long haul if you want to make a true health change because just about anyone can take simple steps for a week or two and then go back to the Easy Button.

Well I remember my first job at 15 1/2 at McDonalds and those late nights closing where you could gobble anything left in the bins did not do a thing towards self improvement. My metabolism was so high that I could down 6-7 Quarter Pounders and think. "Man its great to not have to pay for all these great burgers".

Yeah , I'll pay for that lapse in judgement towards end of lifespan for sure.

Being forced to make rounds or walk long distances in the medical field seems to promote more health and welfare for sure. Plus most hospitals have so much reinforcing materials that one is made to participate in as well as on the walls and common areas that it breeds good health habits.

Hey, I'm outta shape, hate my job, wanna do something with my life. -

Sounds like Bill Murray in Stripes.

If I were you ( and I was once in a way ), I'd be joining the Navy, Army or Air Force and get a MOS in the medical field.

I chose to be a Marine at 21, could barely do 3 pullups and 28 situps. Best thing I did for me, ever.

As for the medical field. Having been the recipient of a few radical surgeries and enough time in the hospital, I have great respect for those that have their heart in it. I used to lump Marines and hockey players in a group I'd have play on my team, though that list has grown to include the medical pros out there as well as our fire and police service personnel. Most of the great one's do it because its what they love.

Butting my nose in somebody else's business; I took your rant as a plea for help.

Staying content, but looking forward to the next one, hopefully in the medical profession this time

Advise for all the young members in here : Go to college, get a degree in a field that has at least some interest, get a Job. DO NOT be an entrepreneur, owning your own business is a SERIOUS PITA! pay is unsteady, employees are fuckin assholes, oh and did i mention pay is unsteady? i work 24/7 and havent been able to pay myself in almost a year. If it wasnt for my wife working her ass off as a waitress in a high end restaurant, i would be out on my ass. If I could do it all over again, i would have stuck with my original goal to get into SJSU and get my degree in Computer Science...Maybe automotive design, something...

It would probably be worth mentioning that there are lots of jobs that allow you to have your own business on the side.

I 9-5 in software development and go home and do freelance work for fun and to learn more. It's still entrepreneurial and there are a few projects that could grow into real businesses if I chose to keep working on them.

It might be safer to say that if you want to go the entrepreneur-way, to start it as a hobby and build it from there. It's much more difficult to make it a full-time gig from day one.
