hadn't driven my car for a while because i was out of town on business and alt belt is noisy and O2 sensor going out, wideband reading is all over the place.
simple shit that i can't do myself because HOA rules. annoying.
Wassup fellas. Anyone have experience with e28's? Im looking to pick one up as my daily. Just need to know any tips and tricks before i start inspecting it.
We had a HOA at my last house. That didn't stop me from doing a 5-Speed swap right in my driveway, among other big projects.
The most they did was send a chain of angrily worded letters. Screw em and their BS fees
yeah, unfortunately i don't even have a driveway, this is a condo building, i'd be doing work in the parking lot and security would be on my ass in a hot second.
a couple of my friends in the music scene and my gf's coworkers have thrown parties at their houses in oakland that were surprisingly nice, and about the same as we pay here.
not looking forward to moving again, but i'm going somewhere with a 2-car garage next.

if it's a 525i, it's pretty much the same thing as an E30 (M20). Timing belt, water pump, etc.
535i (M30) are essentially bulletproof. Just make sure oil changes have been done regularly and sounds healthy on start-up. I haven't dealt with them personally, but there is a reason they won Engine of the Decade ;D

We have a 3 car garage at the new house, but the one car door is unfortunately full of all our clutter-crap I can't park there and my dad wants to give the other two spaces to my moms horribly boring Egg-Machine (Lexus RX350).
At least I can park on the driveway now though, so that's a plus. We have a boat access on the side of the house and a huge backyard, so if any of the cars go down (like currently) we have storage too.
Overall, I'm not complaining. It's nice owning storage/garage property; I can only imagine how much it sucks without it.
never drove, but i love to go out and spectate. i shoot a lot of photos too.
what do you drive? your pretty close to me lol.
Pantless I remember it was you talking about it. I'm out of Benicia so I definitely want to check it out. I have a 1987 535is. Thinking about checking it out. Maybe participating down the road.

Yea its a 535i. I heard these engines are monsters and are still being tracked regularly. Im pretty excited going to look at a couple this week and see how it goes from there. I'll keep everyone updated

CGK you have 3 options as I'm sure you already know. 528e, 533i, 535i/is
Or m5 if you have deep pockets. I have an 87 535is which I love. Super simple to work on and it basically a bigger E30. Depending on your price range I'd really look for an is with the apron and spoiler, sport seats as well. I would definitely ask when the last valve adjustment was done/ spark plugs changed. They're great long lasting cars. I'm at 220k and I eat Integras and Civics often. Oh yeah it's also my daily. AC and heater commonly go out in them.
Sweet thanks for all the info guys. Definitely gives more confidence in buying one. As far as money goes im only working with about 2k so im gonna get the best one i can find for 2k. It seems that they're pretty rare to come by. Imkinda looking for an old lady that doesn't know what she has and give we some cash for it. Well see what happens

Sweet! Yeah it's super cool man, some nights are a lot better than others but it's definitely always a good time, and all of the regulars/drivers are super friendly.
I wanna get into driving as well, just waiting for the cash flow/job that will allow me to do it.
