you can't do the same for religion, and you don't need religion for community or a sense of belonging, either.

Not sure how this topic came up but I studied bio anthropology at UCSB. The subject of homosexuality and it being genetically linked, or rather, genetically influenced was becoming a subject discussed more and more. There actually is research to suggest the existence of a genetic marker that offers a predisposition towards homosexuality. Its being studied even in humans currently, among other species also.

Homosexuality might not directly produce offspring, but in many species homosexuality sustains a population as the practices of that species rely on this interaction among all members of both sexes as part of the reproduction cycle.

Wish I could dig my notes out from few years back to provide more concrete findings, but to those fortunate enough to have access to a peer review/ journal database look it up if curious. Its a very sensitive subject I know, the religious realm has many issues with this topic.
