            Race skids skid plate
            Kinda
            Sucks...

Bolts into the core support; it is maybe 2-3mm thick; has no support ribbing, etc.

The best skid plate I've ever seen originated from E30tech (yes, I know :weak:)

THATS what a skid plate should look like

Yeah, ehh. It was a HUGE hit. Like a bump in the road directly onto the plate at 30mph big enough to bounce me off the seat. I'd rather my plate flex and crack the oil pan than divert the force straight into the frame with no damping at all.

Well I knocked off a reflector a couple miles before this happened so you could say I was a bit low.

So…what's wrong with that (see above)?
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

I almost guarantee there would have been nothing wrong with your frame. At the speed and deflection the force traveled along the pan and hit the car, the frame would have sustained 0 damage.

When I hit my pole, it was under similar circumstances, however, I completely stopped; impact probably at a force 10-20x greater than what you experienced at full frontal impact, with minimal damage to my frame.

I ordered some Yokohama S. Drives in 205/45/r16 for my e38 style 5s from America's Tire Company, and they came in today. I brought the wheels in and they told me they can't install them because the tires are recommended for 7.5" width, and the wheels are 8" wide. Does anyone know if local tire shops owned by these Indian guys will install the tires for me?
