I'm sure you can find a BAR guy who will work with you. They have jobs working with cars, probably because they like cars. Make a friend, have him help you read the law to make it legal.

I totally feel you on that lachs paint fade. I had never seen any pics of your car till now but always thought your "paint sucks" was a way of saying that painting is difficult. I realize now what it meant. lol

last time i had my car smogged down there it didn't even cost me any extra. guy just looked at the ITBs, said "is this an M3?", and i said "yes sir, it is". *wink nudge* and i was on my way.

smog should only care what comes out the pipe, thing else really matters.

Generally agree, although I get why they want to check evap canister, pcv, and other sources of non-tailpipe emissions. I think most smog comes from (or at least used to, back when there was no control on this stuff) gas evap, and crankcase blow-by.

The intake comments make sense though. Would be a completely different ballgame if it were based on testing mileage, emissions, and evap controls. Just the things that make sense.
