R134 is bad stuff, if there is any moisture in the system, it turns into acid and eats the system from the inside out (see air conditioning black death) The best way to go seems to be with R12E. Its an environmentally safe R12 compatible refrigerant that is propane based (has a higher flashpoint than R134) This is what I will run in mine whenever I get around to replacing the drier with the leaking sensor and I pick up a vacuum pump. The only trick with R12E is that you have to go by weight rather than pressure. You need less of it than either R12 or R134.

So with an r12e system do I need to worry about moisture? If so I would have to have it vacuumed. Also is r12e legal?

I have a compressor for r12 I need to put in, and I'm sure I need new o rings not sure where to source those.

Yes you still have to worry about moisture, it doesn't do anything good for any a/c system. It just won't eat the insides of the system up if its there. R12E is legal. I'll have to look up the place where I found it for the link when I get home.

          Second that.

Just find yourself some r12 and recharge it. It will be more costly for the refrigerant but you'll save on parts and labor for converting.

You can get it on ebay still, and someone in the classifieds was selling cans the other day.

Was seeing if I could do it cheaper than $100+ for a dolly and gas, but I think it is probably my best bet. AAA won't tow it home because the vehicle isn't in my name. I was thinking about making up a story and saying it's my friends car which stopped running and now needs a tow.

I'm down. Text me if I don't check r3v. E34 needs a new clutch master, yay for my first problem.

As long as you're there with your id and just say its yours (better yet just don't even say who's it is) they will tow it. They've never once asked me for paperwork on the car.

AAA has given my family trouble twice when hauling a car that wasn't registered to us. Ill give it a try though. Once the truck is on scene I cant imagine they would turn around and go back.

Got some adapters, style 5's, 17x8/9 style 32s, and 20x9/10 style 32s today.

i had a truck turn around on me a while back. Had a car that was in my name but had no engine which they refused to tow. WTF does it matter to them!
