You may very well have a 3.73 in an auto. This topic came up for me not long ago when I went to the junk yard to find an 88iS automatic car, which had a 3.73 as well. I believe starting with the 89' is when the automatic cars had the 4.10.

Okay because I thought these had 3.73's in the auto also, I know my '89 auto was a 4.10 and the PO of this car says it's a 3.73

who knows what's been swapped into these cars over the years, but i would think an e30 m20 auto with a 3.73 would be readily identifiable via how miserable it'd be to drive.

but then, i hate both autoboxes and numerically low gearing.

It was loud and high at 65 but I couldn't tell ya off the top of my head what the rpm's were. Didn't feel like a 4.10 though, must've been a 73

loud and high at 65 sounds like a 4.10 to me, but we'd really need to know rpm at speed in top gear to figure it out. or just lift the back end and spin things.

Then again, I'm used to the M3 after this week and that's at 2900ish at 80. I remember the 4.10 in my '89 and this has to be a 3.73, not as unbearable but still a different world.

Just spent my break refresh money on a new watch.. I guess new pads, rotors, fluid, and front rx7 BBK will have to wait :/
