Cab has the best one ever. Mine feels really good for the price though. Got a Z3M one from Patrick (e30shbobberr) for $20 and picked up a new main bushing from the dealer. I'd get one from blunt for half the price though if you can wait. There's almost zero forward and backward slop, and it's nice and notchy without being hard to get into gear. There is a bit of side to side slop in gear though, i'll eventually get delrin bushings for the front and modify the back support bracket to stop that slop. You'll probably need to replace all the bushings, not just the main one that the ball of the shifter sits in. New tranny mounts make a big difference too.
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

The uuc isn't exactly in my price range right now, and neither is the akg. I was looking more at replacement short shifters from other bmw's.

With the tranny out of the car I plan to get all new shifter bushings, motor mounts, and a clutch pressure hose.

Any gaskets/seals on the tranny I should be doing while it is out?

So according to this the 2.5 is the shortest height wise, and has the shortest throw?

Okay, forget the upgraded shifter for now. I just need to tighten everything up.

Which bushing do you guys replace when trying to make the shifter like new??

edit on the shifting arm. It's suppose to be 26mm approx. 1" across the gap where that end goes. That's why it's the bushing length.
