    Budget turbo builds are ticking time bombs. Don't quote me, but I believe Danny blew up an m42 even in the short time he had the turbo.

        m20 turbo at like 8 psi puts out ~230hp I think... Need simple rebuild to motor, and don't need a serious fuel management.

          Dan owns that shop?? Way back when, my dad got his Tein springs on his e46 put in there. But I don't plan on paying a shop to do anything other than engine machine work, thanks for the offer though.

          Nah, I think he got a ref ticket. That's why i'd want to see how the setup i'm thinking about does on stock m42's. With the prices of m42s being what they are, spending a weekend swapping it out after shooting a rod into the pavement wouldn't be all that terrible in the grand scheme of things.

            I already said m20 is the exception. M30 also loves Turbo. But the m30 performance parts are fewer and further between, and its just an ugly motor...

              That's part of my thoughts. Idk who Nate is, but without big engine upgrades it's not really worth it.

              Mark D 7PSI chip. I have all the m20 wiring harness and ecu stuff sitting around, i'd just need an engine.

                            Okay, okay. I was under the impression you thought the m20 was not ugly, but the m30 is. I would still swap in an m30 over an m50. That's just me.

                              I had an M42 turbo. It never blew up, just ran like shit until I had megasquirt and got it tuned. Then got a ref ticket.

                                LBV, stick with your m42 until you have 10k in cash ready to swap in whatever you do, correctly.
