I have power to everything and it doesnt turn over. little lights are nothing.

Check to make sure all your grounds are connected, your started is hooked up right, double check to make sure your battery is charged....

i bought a brand new battery a month or two ago, the battery is not the problem.
i must have not done something correctly.

I bought an 86 eta around the same time you started this shit. I did the timing belt, wp, and a whole host of other shit including putting 20k on it in the year i owned. sold the car, bought another E30, have already put 10k on it and you still havent finished this thing.

you need to be on timeout.

Your cables to the started may be hooked up incorrectly. If you think that aren't then you need to check if it is getting power with a voltmeter, then trace the problem backwards.

yeah but what is the difference beetween me and you?
i know i took a long ass time but this was really my first major automotive project.
i thought it was a blown head gasket, but instead it was a snapped head stud on some head studs that were apparently recalled.
i had set backs everywhere i possibly could because this of my rookie-ness.
and not only did i change the head gasket, i also disassembles the entire head, lapped all my valves, replaced all my valve stem seals, replaced the cam seal and snapped a bolt off in there, removed a broken head stud from the block, fixed the cam seal issue.

and in the middle of it i bought the e21, redid the whole cooling system on that car, remanned the drive shaft after my CSB took a crap, then it took a crap again, currently in the middle of replacing the whole driveshaft.

not only that but im 20 years old, work nearly full time (use too, ever since december ive been broke as hell lol) gone to school at the same time, still set time aside for my real passion, skateboarding. so yeah as lame as it sounds the e30 really wasn't my main focus during the time, its not that i dont love it its just that i have a very busy life and making time for it was difficult.

i know im on r3v a lot. so it seems like all i do is sit around and scratch my butt while i browse r3v and procrastinate my car even more. but in reality thats not exactly how it is.
not saying i havent procrastinated tho, i know i have.

                            sorry for the rant lol.

Hey Spence, a little trick my friend taught me was to tap the starter (lightly) with a screwdriver and hammer when trying to start it. Your starter might just be stuck. It's an easy thing to try. Either that, or it could be your solenoid.
