just my personal opinion i would rather feed and maintain the m54
w a 6speed and a tune it would be plenty for me, for that matter i prefer it to the s62

i feel that if youre looking for action you need a 540. otherwise, the six cylinder ones are all cruiser cars. my folks have a 2001 525i, while it does handle quite well, i can definitely feel its lack of power.

I dunno guys... I'm kinda liking lower weight engine as apposed to heavy high output stuff.

Even an s54, with it's 343bhp is cool, but coming in at 471 pounds makes it almost double the m20 weight which has to kill a lot of its handling and rely heavily on a suspension tune to corner effectively.
I'd take a nice built m54 ZHP that spits out 270HP but weighs like... 280 pounds cause of the aluminium block. That's only 30 pounds heavier than an m20, but spits out almost 100 ponies more.

Pull a couple of lightweight mods and your looking at a car that handles just as nice as a 318 but puts down tire screeching power

I think I officially know which engine I will be swapping in the future, and since rebuild-and-buildable m54s can be had for almost $1k, it makes it a huge budget bargain
