- the earthquakes Never felt one, may be interesting? Hundreds of small ones, plus they're far apart; hardly feel them. Like, a fat person fell in the other room, at most. Maybe once a season you'll see a hanging lamp sway back and forth.
- the cannabis and cannabis shops Don't smoke, never have Plenty of us who do and don't.
- discovering LA on my track bike Really stoked on this. I ride a lot LA has recently been developing a bike-oriented community, although the biggest problem still remains: asshole drivers.

- traffic Cannot agree with that Personally my own commute doesn't require a freeway, which leads me to say the closer you live to work, the fear better your life will be.
- smog or this....at all It's gotten a lot better, clear sights across the basin is fairly common. Most noticeable after a rain, though it hasn't done much of that.

Well it sounds like this job in Burbank is going to work out. Flying out there next week or the following but they have basically offered me a job pending I can move abit sooner than I anticipated.

I have lived in SOCAL since 1977 primarily in fareast San Gabriel valley/Inland Empire area. Your out of the L.A. O.C. traffic and everybody living right on top of everybody else. I live in Lake Elsinore which is in north west riverside county and i have to say i love where i'm at. Its alittle counrtyish out here and not far from the beach and the mountains and the desert and the valley life style is 30 minutes away if you like that kinda living. Bought a house built in 2003 5 years ago for $230.000 and its 4 bedrooms 2 car garage and 2300 square feet and property is 8000 square foot lot. I have lived in Maine,West Virgina, Nevada,and Georgia before Cali and i love it here.

i honestly dont know how people are willing to sit in traffic, anytime i've had to work more than 10 miles from home i ride a motorcycle. now im settled in the job ive been hunting for years, work 6 miles from home, out of my house at 7am, home by 430, its gravy, i can take my dog to the park, work on the cars or bikes, catch a movie, or anything i can imagine.

those are things you can't do having a job you have an hour half, two hour commute for.

also the 5fwy has been under construction for years, years. Parts of it are "due summer 2018" www.i-5info.com. Wether or not you use the 5 its one of the main arteries, and traffic that would otherwise be there, flows over to the streets, or other hwys.

I'd also look at some of the small homes in Northridge if Burbank is your bag baby. And, the cool thing is you'll often see Jay Leno cruising around in his denim tuxedo.

Man why does that traffic have to be such shit there?! I've got a pretty solid lead on a job but I'm realllllly looking to live in Long Beach as is my GF, however this job is in Burbank. I'm pretty sure that commute would be the death of me.

depending on what time you start it can really suck or be normal. If your hours are flexible I would try to start at like 7 and home before 5. If your hours are not flexible, suck it up and do it. If youre dead set on living in Long Beach, by all means do it! Ive lived all over long beach and work in Long Beach as well. I hate sounding like an ass, but if you want something, go get it. If it's not easy, suck it up. California is one of the few states where you have to pay to play, be it high rent, expensive goods, or living 40 miles from work and having to sit in traffic both ways to get there. It sucks but a lot of us do it.

that commute in a car would kill you, public transport would eat your day.

Look at housing in the south edges of glendale, eagle rock, and surrounding areas, decent living, close to work, weather stays decent bc griffith park is so close, and you can always trek to the beach on the weekends.
