    2009 OFFICIAL R3VLIMITED Bimmerfest Caravan

Alright, well it was a hit last year. It was not a giant mob like the baybimmerz caravan, but there were still enough of us for everybody to have a good time. Even though I got a wicked sun burn on my forehead.

Last year's thread. Several more people showed up than on the pathetic list we had going - http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=100467

    INFO's

    What you need to know-
    • Bimmerfest is MAY 2nd 2009, in Santa Barbara at the Polo and Racquet Club
    • For those of you from up in the PNW, and have any intention of driving down with us, we can make arrangements for you to stay the night somewhere here in the North Bay area Thursday night.

    What you need to bring-
    • Yourself
    • Your E30/etc.
    • 2-way radio per car with sub channels (with GOOD batteries or extra's. I'm guilty of that)
    • A good attitude as outlined elsewhere

    List of Caravaners + from BayE30 -
    • Justin B (JURY DUTY SUMMONS WEEK OF 4/27! FUCK! I potentially won't know till Thursday night if my number comes up Friday)
    • T verdier
    • Alex Rodoni (Rodoni)
    • Deutschman
    • Golde30
    • clavinZERO
    • YAN-3 (50/50)
    • norcalE30
    • cahomey
    • Fred
    • BIGHIT8989
    • Surebimmer
    • ayemattyyy
    • Alkasquawlik (maybe)
    • Kristeun1 (maybe)
    • e30nub (maybe)
    • lylefk (??? Needs to tell friends to STFU :P)
    • bimmers4life

    Why I'm doing this again-
Because last year's caravan kicked ass. We had a lot of fun, and it avoided most of the garbage I was trying to that was part of the BayBimmerz caravan that some of us drove in, in 2007.

Here's a snip of what I wrote about why I'm doing it last year to refresh. Last year's [2007s] BayBimmerz or whatever's caravan was a massive cluster fuck. It was not as much fun as it could have been. There were just TOO many BMW's, mostly late models, driving over their heads, and just like complete ass holes mobbing the whole highway as we siphoned through.

I want this to be different.

First of all, it already will be a smaller group of people. Not what seemed like hundreds. It also will be consisting of people who for the most part know each other already. Ideally there would be more respect on the road, as well as more of a tie between all of us to stay within a reasonable distance from each other. Nobody going balls out trying to be there first, and nobody left behind because everybody else just wants to have a shot at being out in front of a giant caravan. I want it to be kept to a reasonable size that it is still possible to work with everybody for the most part if they need to pull off to the side for something. Not necessarily that everybody would fit with them, but if it's something more serious, at least pull off at the next exit and let the rest of us know via cell phone if the two way radios don't have the distance to communicate at that point.

I basically don't want it to be a mob mentality for everybody thinking they're in a race. If you want to be part of it, then you're choosing to not necessarily go slow, but to stay with the pack. It's a community thing, not just sheer numbers. Last year a few of us split off from the main caravan at the last InNOut stop because they were taking way too long at each stop, we wanted to get to SB before it was dark, and to cruise together as a small group of E30's. There were only a few of us but it was better than pulling our hair out watching out for E46's, the Z4M and Porsche to keep from getting ran over. It was nice, but I just want to increase the number a little to gather up the rest of us up the coast and roll together.

    Stops, etc-
    • Overnight stay in Northern Bay Area on Thursday night for PNW crew that wants to take part. Various locations, depending on the situation. PM me if you want in on this and will be driving down Thursday and we'll figure it out.
    • Northern Bay/Surrounding area E30's only - We will meet at the Petaluma InNOut Parking lot at 8:30 AM. The idea is to realistically leave by 9:00 and I don't want to have to wait for stragglers showing up later than 9. Gives us plenty of time to get to Gilroy InNOut by 11:00.
    • The rest of the bay area will meet us at the Gilroy InNOut at 11:00, and we will be leaving at 11:30 sharp.
    • Stopping for food/gas/stretch in Atascadero, once again at their InNOut. The timing is not critical since we won't be meeting anybody else new at this stop, but we'll probably roll in at 1:30 and leave at or a little after 2:00PM.

These points mimic the BayBimmerz caravan but without the stress. If you have an E30 and are going to Bimmerfest, come with us. Hopefully they're cleared out of each location before we arrive. It worked well last year. Otherwise, there is parking in the surrounding area in Gilroy AND Atascadero if we run into them.

    Quick run down-
North Bay - Petaluma InNOut (8:30-9:00) MAP
Rest of Bay Area - Gilroy InNOut (11:00-11:30) MAP DIRECTIONS
Mid point stop - Atascardero InNOut (~1:30-2:00) DIRECTIONS

Are you guys staying overnight in SB or driving back that night?
I'm assuming the majority of you will be staying. Where are you staying and how much are you paying for hotels/motels?

If I can crash at one of my friend's houses that go to SBCC, I will seriously think about going but I don't have a bunch of cash just to be throwing out the window for gas/food/hotels/etc, especially if I'm thinking about going to the E30 picnic later in the year.

a good way to go is staying at the youth hostel. i have done that two years and its not bad at all. its clean, there are always hot euro girls there that like bmw's, and its cheap as f*ck! i also know a few people in sb with houses. you don't need to spend that much. if you live on the cheap you could probably do it on $300 especial if you go down with a friend and share the cost. you could even bring your own food to cook. they have an open kitchen at the youth hostel.

this is kind of like going to mecca for me lol

do you remember how much is it to stay a night at the youth hostel? i know prices might have changed in the past year, but it would be good to know roughly how much i would need to spend

hmm $30 a night at the hostel.
It's either this or the E30 picnic, I don't think I can go to both. I hate making decisions...
