Dude it's easy! I went down to Richmond to pick up my e36 and drove it back that night. I took 20 mins of "lessons" in the home depot parking lot a few months before. As long as you understand the concept, you'll get the hang of it.
1st gear is always the hardest, once you're out of that the rest is really easy. I stalled probably 5-10 times on my first night driving my car back over the two hour period (almost every light). Just trust your instincts and go
yeah, that took forever.....Leave a comment:

Like everyone said...
Get in the car and just go! That's how my uncle taught me. Gave me the keys and walked away. Put in gear then slowly let off clutch to feel where it grabs and give it gas. Stall a few times to get the feel.Leave a comment:

My 1st car was a 5sp. I had very little idea of how to drive it. I bought the car, and drove it home. I practiced over and over til I could drive it no problem.
Dude just buy the car. Take your time, and it will come to you. Its not that hard. OR take someone with you who knows how to drive a 5sp., and have them drive it home for you. Then you can practice til you get it right.
The hardest part is trying to start on a hill, and living where you do, you will have to do that from time to time. Don't worry you'll get it!Leave a comment:
