OBDI M52 swap is cheap power, also fun in DSP.

No sun roof will be hard to find.
not really. Only hard to find on an M3, since it was a no cost option on the M3. On a non-M, it's pretty easy to find. Finding a non-sunroof car would be my primary focus for a track car.

Also, cloth interior may be on the hard side to find, but if you get leather, cloth seats are an easy swap out.
Yeah, cloth interior should be the last thing on the mind when shopping for an E36, it's too easy to swap seats on these cars.

lowball the snot out of this guy. Needs some cosmetic work, but hey, it is a track rat. If it runs/shifts/drives great.....

          Here is my plan:

          -92 325is or later model with m52b28
-auto or manual, I can handle a swap
          -four doors
          -no sun roof
          -cloth interior
-basic maintenance: brakes mostly, a street set-up and some track pads, I may do stainless lines for that and tranny while I'm in there, also metal t-stat housing, and water pump impeller, anything else to do?
          -track it
-coilovers: Single adjustable, I know very little about set-up, Tcklines, are there any other brands to consider?

Tires will be next most likely.
          Good plan?
Just buy a manual, and definitely look for a no-sunroof car. Very few cars had cloth interior though.

Single Adjustable Coilover brands that are worth looking at in the $1500-2k range:
          TCK
          GC
          AST
          KW
          2017 Chevrolet SS, 6MT
95 M3/2/5 (S54 and Mk60 DSC, CARB legal, Build Thread)
          98 M3/4/5 (stock)

Either of these would be good starting platforms if the motor passes a bill of health. I'd be surprised if it wouldn't, M50s are tanks.

lulz. For AST, you wait for a killer sale around xmas, for GC yea don't run them on an E36 as the TCKs are better, and as for KWs, they're actually really good shocks.

Yeah, it needs more than "a new catalytic converter, and some minor electrical repairs."

Not on an E36, they're comparable to the E36 bilsteins: great until you drive over an expansion joint or drop a wheel.

You can find some really nice late model 328's with sport package (will keep you busy while saving money) on CL. I still want one so I look often. I still think that's the way to go. Plus you skip that ugly two tone non-body colored crap.

Only problem is that 328iS will be 2-3x more money than a generic 325i.

I reaaaally want one for a DD though. Badly.
