SCCA Autocross: Winter Series Event #5

RACE WILL BE ON SATURDAY, FEB. 13th! Day before Valentines day

Ok, similar deal to last time, except it's somewhere else.

Any information regarding autocross in the Rocky Mountain region can be found by talking to me, checking the website (rmsolo.org), or checking the SCCA direct website (SCCA.org).

There is plenty of helpful information at either of those sources, and if you'd like to come racing and then something happens day of the race and you cannot compete, chances are we won't feel sorry for you for not asking questions.

You MUST be: - registered before I think 10am the Thursday before the race weekend.
    - Willing to let someone look your car over and make sure it's safe
    - Willing to bring a proper helmet, borrow from someone, or rent one on site (limited quantities).
    - Willing to take care of yourself and handle your responsibilities. If you wanna drive, expect to work.

There is much more, but I highly suggest anyone with questions go over the RMsolo page, SCCA page, or PM me.

What to expect to spend: At the bare minimum you'll be factoring in the entrance fee ($30 I think for World Arena), possibly the weekend membership fee ($15) or the annual fee ($45) if you've signed up, as well as gas getting to and from the Springs / World Arena. You CAN plan for things like a hotel room the night before so you don't have to drive in the morning, food, drink, possibly breaking parts, etc.

As it sits right now, we have a few people interested in splitting the cost of one room and stuffing people inside. The more people wanting to do this, the cheaper it can get. Right now we're figuring $100, prolly a little more, split however many ways for the people going. It's for a nice hotel (name is escaping me right now) which is literally a stones throw from the world arena parking lot, and didn't make me fear that my car was going to be broken into last time I stayed there. So think, 2 beds, 1 or 2 people per bed, plenty of floor space..... It's an idea.

That's it for now, let the discussion begin and questions arise, I'll do my best to help answer whatever I can.

    - Ben

    I didn't see a date....is that this upcoming weekend?

Also, may I presume that an ultra-beater that holds the driver's door closed with a deadbolt from Home Depot is not allowed to enter?

I'd probably leave my diff at the first turn anyway...........sigh

Ah date, I knew I was going to forget something. I woke up from a quick nap and went to post that, I'll edit now. It's on the 13th, so day before Valentines day. Some of us are thinking of going down on the 12th. I'm not quite sure about your car, you can PM me pics if you want and we can talk more. Does sound sketch, but I'm willing to try and help if I can.

World Arena is a cool place, but I hope they've fixed up some parts of the lot since last time I was there. Let us know if you're gonna go morning of or you wanna try to go night before Roland.

Ok. Depending on the circumstances, I may go the night before. My uncle has a place in the springs. Not too sure though. :???:

That would be nice, we're discussing on the CUSCC forum, stuffing like 5 people into a hotel room and splitting the cost lol.

I am hoping that the black E30 will be ready in time for Autocross #5. I am running into problems getting the car to pass inspection. (no horns. Like seriously, the horns were taken out and the wiring harness stripped out and bundled up. talk about a headache!)

Ah yeah that sounds like a headache.

Buy some Hella Supertones and wire em in somewhere. I had em on the Subaru, loud and annoying, and would probably be fine for inspection......

for whatever reason mine passed inspection without horns. Like yours, the harnesses are cut and tied, and my horn button (aftermarket steering wheel) literally can be pulled out of the car.

Different inspections I'm thinking... Are you talking just normal inspection David? Sam's car has a salvage title, but it's fixed I think and he's getting it inspected by the state referee to get the salvage titled lifted I believe? He told me when we were going to the junkyard, but I don't remember specifically.
