So guys it looks like I will have to be in the SM class, do you guys know what kind of cars I would be competing against? Wouldn't Val fall into this category? I was hoping to be in the STX, but with the swap that would make me illegal :(

The good news is that I am allowed to remove my rear seat, still don't know if that will be enough to make me competitive...

You would be competing against Val and his swapped A4. As well as a bunch of pretty redonkulous cars. But I think that you'll actually be fine.

Not to be mean but you won't be competitive, not with chris piloting that rocket car.

No offense taken, looking at what mods are allowed, I think without force induction and probably AWD it will be very hard to be competitive. Should be fun though, I really don't care about winning I just want to have a good time.

Yeah, none of us will really be competitive, but it's still fun to participate. Make sure you have a helmet (or plan on renting one) and are signed up for the SCCA (or are planning on doing a weekend membership, which can later be deducted off an annual membership)

$15 weekend membership which can later be deducted from the either $40 or $45 annual
$10 rental for the helmets, first come first serve.

Can bug me for any more questions (and tell me wtf happened at the Walrus?)

I wasn't there, just read about it the paper. I fact I haven't been there in over 2 weeks I think... I'll try and get the inside scoop and fill you in.

As for a helmet, my step brother gave me his old HJC motorcycle helmet, I think it will work fine. Does it matter that it is a little scratched up?

And I was just planning on paying for the weekend membership, so it would be like $35 right?

As for the tech inspection, my brake lining light is on cause I forgot to order a new sensor when I replaced my front brakes. Will they knock me for that? Or will the visually inspect that I have plenty of brake material?

And are you bringing that low profile floor jack? Cause I am interested to see if that would work on my car, tired of having to drive up onto 2 2x10s to fit my jack under there..

Weekend membership is $15, and I think it's $35 for Dicks, so $50. And I can try to bring the jack if you'll need it.

you'll be competing against MEEE!!! Beware the stock M42 and crappy street tires....

But i don't really care what class im in, i don't feel like putting in my seats, cuz they are freaking heavy, and I will still have the same amount of fun, and we can still all compare times, no matter what class. Classing is for people who take autocross way too seriously. And me, I can't take autocross seriously, my car won't let me!!

oh and where can I custom order window lettering that temporarily stick on? you know, like stick-on window vinyl. I want "Captain Understeer" to be written across the top of my rear windshield.

Hahaha. I'm bringing my E30 in all likelihood and running in DSP without rear seats. I just don't want to cut up another magnet to say SM.

People can protest all they want, I really just don't care about autocrossing. Track is way more fun.

Also, who here is going to sign up for the May BMW CCA driving school at HPR? We gotta get an E30/people-under-50-yo contingent to go. Passing rich people in new BMWs in 20 year old dented oil burning E30s FTW!

So Sam, you are competing in SM with a M42 just because you don't want to put your seats back in? Not bad, not bad...

Brakes: HP+ pads, oem blank rotors ($25/corner from raceshopper.com), bimmerworld SS lines, ATE Super Blue fluid. Done.

I really want to bring the E30, but it depends on whether I get wheels and coils in time. Plan B is M3.

for my brake setup I was thinking Centric black powdercoated rotors and Hawk HPS street pads. Not as good as HP+, but its my DD....
