    Figured I would introduce myself

    Hey everyone!

I know HyperE30 say my post, but I am trying to buy bimmerman325's old e30. It is not going well because the owner lacks communications skills. Anyways, I do not own or have ever owned an e30 but have been wanting one for a very long time now. I saw the craigslist ad for the black on black 325 and loved it. For some reason the owner deleted the ad last night and now wont respond to me. Who knows.

Anyways, I have talked to a few of you but I am sure that you do not remember. I was at the PPIHC this year and was sitting right behind all of you CUSCC guys/girls. Also, I have been to a handful of autocross events lately at talked to some of you there. I just graduated from CU last year although I did not partake in too many CUSCC events :(

Anyways, I am just saying hello. If you did not get the vibe, I am very interested in owning my first e30 that will be a project car/DD (kinda, I have a truck I drive also). If you know of any that are for sale or people thinking about getting rid of theirs, let me know.

My criteria for a car are the following:

    1) Manual
    2) 325
    3) no rust (or hardly hardly any)
    4) engine runs strong! (I really dont want to get my first e30 and have a shitstorm of engine issues)
    5) I would like to have had the timing belt and water pump changed recently, but if not its ok...I have the ability to change those myself.
    6) ideally a coupe, but I guess 4 doors is cool
    7) clutch in good condition...still I can replace it
8)My budget is about 4k although I would much rather spend about 2-3k on the car and the rest on mods/maintenance

Also, cosmetics is not a main concern for me. I do want it looking nice, but paint and whatnot is one of the last concerns I have.

Also, I am kinda partial to black/red/silver. Not such a fan of the white/bronzit, but whatever.

    Thanks

M20s sound wicked good at high rpms. And have torque.

M42s sound like a honda, but with balls. And have mpgs.

i asketh the OP, as to why he would only want an M20 car.

And I supplieth a potential reason.

Plus, M20s have horsepowarz. Both cars are great, I wouldn't rule either one out.

I must have it all wrong...

The ideal E30 engine in my book is the M10, followed by the M42, and lastly the M20.

But of course, none of these are an S54, so it really doesn't matter. :pimp:

Different strokes for different folks. I like actually being able to accelerate faster than a Prius, but maybe I'm just crazy.

Also, here's info on my old car. Should paint a more complete picture than the seller is.

I think Josh (original owner) at Autosport Werks might have picked it up, I sent him the seller's CL add a few days ago before MisterMiniS made the thread.

An M10 powered E30 is better for the environment and has ridiculously cheap operating costs than the prius, also can be made to look good, and still is fun to drive.

If I was buying a car for acceleration, I'd already have a C5 vette in the driveway.

However, an m10 sounds like a flatulent Honda, without the power of a Honda. Good god are they slow too.

I have future plans like a year after I get it to turbo it to about 300 whp. From what I have read the M20 is a decent engine for doing that. I'm not sure about the M42, but I am new to e30's so hey.

M20s are more suited to turbos without any additional changes, much more so than M42s. Lower compression + more cylinders = more power/cylinder at the same boost levels.

That said, swap an M30 into an E30 and boost that....you'd be at 400whp on stock internals without any issue.

                              400whp + E30 = death.
