Roland... Just get an E30. I never knew the M20 got such damn good gas mileage.

I put in $15 by autozone. Chased a couple cars (By chased... Literally, my foot was stuck to the floor the vast majority of the way up 72 lol) all the way up 93, HWY 72, to 119. Through Nederlands, home boulder canyon, through boulder, 93 home. All the way to alameda/union, and then to Broomfield and back before the light came back on.

If you want good gas mileage, it's hard to beat an M/S52 E30. Enough power for the car to never strain the motor, and a very efficient modern engine (for its age).

I am impressed by the 26-27mpg I get in my M20. But I wouldn't call it a good choice for a mpg DD by any means. There are a million other cars that will get way more.

Mine gets abysmal mileage....but it's also an auto and is dying.

My M20 got good fuel milage... about 8 laps before the light came on.

doesn't the 318is get 30+ mpg? My old M40 318i Touring got fantastic fuel milage and I drove that thing so hard it was comical how indestructible that little car was (180kph redline for 2 hours straight!)

My E30 gets 30 mpg avg consistently. Measured by filling gas tank and dividing. M42 btw.

In other news, my e28 also gets 30 mpg. M20B27 ftw.

More like M42 ftl. It really should get more considering a heavy E28 with a bigger, less advanced, motor gets the same mpg. :)

I'm guessing he isn't taking it easy on the skinny pedal.

30mpg is weak-sauce. I'm looking for 40mpg or bust. I think I've found the perfect car too, but I need to clear out some of this crap first.

I do drive my 318is pretty hard, and I drive my E28 like a grandma, mostly because it is slow as molasses (lots slower than my 318is) and the shocks have been evacuated of all fluid, among other things. 30 mpg is a bit high for my E28, I would have to make more measurements to say that it is consistent. However, 30mpg w/ the 318is IS consistent, and I rap out every gear all the time.

Also, my M42 has 236k on it, keep in mind.
