Not one other regional sub-forum has a mod, and several of them are 10x the size we are and get along fine. I don't see why we need one?

I think you're too focused on potential netatives to see the positives. Having a mod keeps shit from getting too out of hand. Normally we solve issues just fine. However, as Tim has proven, asking doesnt work always. Everyone here joined r3v because of the community feel... i dont think having a mod who only does stuff when absolutely needed is a bad thing, nor would it detract from this place.

Fair point. We wouldnt need a mod if we certain members would work on basic communication skills, and try not to be nonsensical asshats.

The one thing I see that may need modding is if someone wants to put a serious FS ad in the Mountain section, and just wants to keep it short and on topic so potential buyers don't have to wade through a ton of crap just to read what everyone is saying about the car/detailing services/weather/toilet paper pricing, etc

So if we have an issue, we contact the forum mods. That's what they are there for.

Yes, unfortunately, we're all nonsensical asshats, so I'm pretty sure we'd all be getting the ban-stick.

Can we at least wait two weeks before putting this idea into action? If the consensus is that we still need a mod at that point, then we will act upon it?

We have been talking with them, but a week or two wouldnt hurt.

If you're putting an FS ad up, you put all of the info in the first post anyway.... If you feel like someone asks an important question that you forgot to address, then you answer it, and also edit your first post. Then everybody wins.

You remember sam's 318 fs ad? Five pages of ot, and tim ruining threads. Pretty much the reason for a mod.

But, your argument for a mod said the mountain mod shouldn't/wouldn't have the ability to delete posts or ban users....

Ban users, no. But clean up threads is the whole point, so yes, deleting obviously ot useless posts is good. Cavalierly deleting posts the mod doesnt like is bad, but i think its pretty obvious which posts need to go.

I.e."im selling my318" and next post is "blah blah sandy ky need aplligy sanda bullock stahl header boder weed shop".

In that case, the obviously bad post needs to go.

No one makes this car anymore. The government won't allow them, normal people won't buy them. So it's up to us: the freaks, the weirdos, the informed. To buy them, to appreciate them, and most importantly, to drive them.

I vote for myself to become the mountain mod, only because I've been on R3v since 2004, and e30sport before r3v existed. So i'm pulling the crusty old bucket vote!

I vow to not do a whole lot with mod powers, so it wouldn't be like I became a mod at all! (I just want more PM space)

                                I can get behind this.
