Dude, literally EVERY m20 e30 I have owned, driven, or ridden in, at operating temp, has coolant temps of 1/3 from cold on the temp gauge. On track, beating the piss out of my e30, twmp never moved from 1/3. Venting is NOT needed if your cooling system is in good order. That, and venting looks fucking stupid.

Fugly, yes. That was a design goal. Ricey... if it were plastic and neon backlit, yes. But I won't do the underhood neon until I get my underbody kit installed so I can make sure to slightly mismatch the shades of green.
Damn straight.
Charming and observant!
Big "if" there, given the future use of this car. I know you car-coddling, chamois-wiping smooth-track guys may not understand this, but things can sometimes break in demanding situations and having extra precautions in place that may appear unnecessary in regular daily use could very well be the difference between spun main bearings and champagne.Dude, literally EVERY m20 e30 I have owned, driven, or ridden in, at operating temp, has coolant temps of 1/3 from cold on the temp gauge. I'm well aware of what everyone and their mother thinks it will cost to do rally (I made the mistake of stating that I will be building my first rally car on the specialstage forum). I have no plans to contest a regional championship in the first several years. But yes, I fully understand that rally is an expensive sport. That's why I'm prepping a $1000 E30 for rally instead of prepping a $25k Z06 for track use, which I was going to do before.
PS, don't bring up the drag race 'vette, that one I'll continue to spend too much money on.sigpic
