    Selling 87 Vert

    Hello internets!

It's been a while since I've been in the whole car buying/selling game (or a computer apparently), and based on preliminary CL trolling, it looks like the e30 market has changed a bit since I last took a peek.

The gist of it is, that I am moving to Sweden and therefore, selling EVERYTHING.

So I don't really have a decent idea what value my car would have on the market, especially because I used it like a pickup truck, moving parts and drums. So a lot of the cosmetics are iffy, but it also has HR/Billie suspension (down an inch), cool guy strut brace etc etc, and a 3.0L stroker with m50b28 crank and metric mechanic sport pistons and rods. sooooooo.......

    Any ideas anyone?

Or better yet, does someone need a first car? All my tools are just greasy craftsman tools, but it'd be pretty rad to find someone who could use a metric set up specifically aimed towards e30 (fan clutch wrench!) as well as the car itself.

    Stay low knuckleheads!

here's the draft of what i was going to put on craiglist....

For sale, one 1987 BMW e30 Hellchariot Convertible.

Here's the good news and bad news:

    Good news:

Projectile resistant windshield. Everyone around you will be so jealous they will try to kill you using every means available, ranging from 500mph rocks to pot holes and not using their blinker. They will all fail.

Pitted windshield also allows you to see the face of god when driving into the sun.

Clear coat is peeling off due to excessive speeds and acceleration.

Comes with four extra wheels, painted to show the world what a good car looks like, because it sure as fuck isn't a truck dick-mobile or a prius.

Sport seats designed by German engineers to enforce good posture. If you like slouching, buy a fucking civic and a chiropractor.

Yellow high beams specifically designed to improve the ability to signal and say hello to other E30s on the road.

Extra head gasket mounted to the front as a warning to other vehicles: 'stay to the right or your wreckage will be my trophy'waffles +5hp

Driver's side windshield washer jet doesn't work...doesn't matter. The windshield will be well lubricated by the steady stream of tears of nearby drivers.

Comes with entire set of tools, including fan clutch wrench, vise grips, valve clamp, etc. For those roadside water pump replacement projects.

Cruise control disconnected and removed because you already have one: your right foot. If that's too much responsibility for you, take the goddamn bus.

Kick panel under steering column missing in order to improve access to warp drive and speaker wires.

Glovebox lock replaced with handheld hook device, ideal for curing bison jerky after you bulldoze several herds.

Comes with snow tires, built for getting up hills and around cocky stuck subarus.

Plastic window fogged out to prevent the driver from being distracted by seeing everything on earth at once in the rear view, because you passed everything.

    Dashboard is cracked because e30.

Original differential swapped for a 2.73LSD out of an old super eta for extra gas mileage and less shifting. Comes with the original 3.73 diff if you like the idea of spending more time shifting than actually driving.

Timing belt and damn near everything else replaced in September 2014. Comes with a free 325i top end, complete with complimentary valve damage.

Air conditioning hoses and compressor removed to make space for not being a sissy. If your car is 300 degrees and sweating, so are you. If you can't handle it, get a moustache powered fixie and fuck off.

Power steering also deleted and replaced with r3vlimited machined aluminum fluid vent. You must be strong to drive this car. If you aren't, you will be. Or you will die.

Racing dynamics strut brace included for an extra +400hp and because convertibles need the extra support when making tight off-camber turns at 9000mph.

Support brace underneath also bolted onto undercarriage for same reason. Stiffer than Peter North at work.

Check engine light constantly on to remind you to pop the hood occasionally and admire it.

Speedometer always reads zero because it can't keep up with the ridiculous speeds achieved. You know what gear you're in, you've got a tach, you do the math.

    And the bad news:

The stock engine is missing. Someone snuck in a couple years ago, yanked it out and replaced it with a bored to 86mm and stroked 3.0L m20b25, complete with crankshaft from a '98 m50b28 and custom pistons from Metric Mechanic. Looks stock and still passes emissions, so I guess it's okay.

Several months after that, someone else managed to make off with the stock suspension while I wasn't looking and only left me with a set of HR and Billie sport suspension springs and struts. So no more rocketing over walmart speed bumps, unless you want to hear the sweet song of the oil pan eating asphalt.

No one makes this car anymore. The government won't allow them, normal people won't buy them. So it's up to us: the freaks, the weirdos, the informed. To buy them, to appreciate them, and most importantly, to drive them.

Love the ad, sounds like mine. I also think this would be good to cater to someone here in CA because being able to pass smog and visual is a big plus. Bring it to the gtg on Thursday and let us point out stuff we wouldve done different so you can tell us to fuck off

Sounds like a good deal to me!

"I would totally have put, like, three turbos in a row in there...."

"no way, dude, everyone knows turbos will give you more gains in parallel than in series..."

....and in case anyone thought I was kidding about the roadside water pump replacement. This is me 3 hours into a roadtrip to North Dakota at a truck stop in 2011. Borrowed some gasket sealant and was off an hour or so later.

Don't get too excited though, this is before the Great Clear Coat Flake Off 2012.

Sweden, eh? I sold my E30 M3 a few years ago to a guy that had it imported there. He never told me if it arrived, but I know it made it as far as a port in Baltimore. I hope its running around over there somewhere...
