Don't fuck up a good m42 jay........m42 are uber reliable with proper maintenance......if you do swsp, swap something worth swapping in s50 m52 and beyond m50s are eghhh
I really need to get that 360 degree bearing in, but ripping apart the engine seems like the only option or I'm just going to save for a new one when this one grenades. All the information on m42 about it really brings the issue full force.
Phil has a point, but an M50 is a definite upgrade from an M42. Find a nice, low miles one.
In other words, my bi-polar ness is kicking in again. Thinking of changing directions with both cars (S50 and 5 lug in white car, cammed M50 and coils in red car.) Ugh.

Keep in mind there is much exaggerated and bad info on the forums concerning the m42. Some examples would be that the timing gears only last 100k, or that there is a 'mess' under the intake.

I say s50 in the alpine car. No matter how you look at it, the alpine coupe is more sought after than a zinno sedan. Coils or 5 lug, that is up to you.

I know I will never find as nice of a shell as that alpine again (not for what I paid at least.) I think this is the new plan...unofficially.
