So, just found out (the hard way) that there are THREE different front ends for an E30..

Post 87 (plastic bumpers)
late 85-87 (diving boards with larger lower valance)
pre 9/85 (tubby rubber thing on the bottom)

The pre 9/85 have no provision to mount an i motor oil cooler.. So I guess I will be looking for a later front valance.

is it the plastic bumper valance, or the diving board one (9/85 - 87) because I want to keep the diving boards..

I think you might be able to keep the diving boards with a late model valance.

Also. My oil cooler is bolted to my core support, not the valance.

On the pre 9/85, the valance tucks up to the radiator support so there is no room to mount the oil cooler. It's hard to example, but it just won't fit in there.

@bmw42, I might have a lead on the valance and the lower panel, what color are the two you have?

Mine is a late model Zinno valance. Needs one of the mounting points straightened, otherwise, a solid valance.

Fwiw, you can run diving boards and a late model valance (like '88 cars.)
