I gotta ride the Amtrak down to Eugene and drive it home. Then I'll get some pics of it and start a thread.

First thing is it needs a diff swap. It was originally an auto trans car, and the granny gear 4.10 diff is worse than you would think.

Thankfully it recently got H&R sport springs, Bilsteins, and all the suspension and chassis bushings replaced. Planning (for now) on a set of 16" Maxilite Alpina replica wheels, Conti DWS06+ tires, tower brace ... etc.

Parts prices are refreshingly cheap compared to the Porsche prices I'm used to.

I think we all just got old and needed reliable cars.

(shitposting to stir the pot, I hope?)

It's all Teslas and crap now- it's really rare to see a real car just out and about.

this thread used to be wildly active... did everyone just frezze their nuts off up there??

I think buying an X3 just to 'return it to earth' slowly and leave yourself a donor drivetrain is another level of evil-genius..

    I bought an X3.
figured my genitalia would fall off as soon as I drove it...

and yeah, there was a little shrinkage,

but it's not as bad as I feared it would be. It's a more- topheavy E39- feeling BMW.
Chicks do NOT dig it, but the cute dog hanging out the back window helps some.

I'm sick of the winter salt eating my shiny '93 Ferd Eff too fiddy from the bottom up,
and anyway, this thing will make a nice M54B30 donor when IT rusts away.
Plus, 6- speed. Maybe I could shoehorn the AWD into the E39 wagon, as the
front suspension's surprisingly E39 in design...

Right. I plan on slapping in some koni yellow adjustables and keeping my stock IS springs, plus M3 endlinks and fresh hardware (tower bushings, new bump stops and so on, E36 offset FCABs, etc) so not super stiff but not totally squishy either.
