The E21's that came with two headlights were the base euro models (i.e. 316). The ones that came with four headlights were the "higher" models (i.e. 320i, 323i).

they came with 4 headlights, 2 is prolly a-market grills etc

316 (Never brought to the US) has 2x 7" headlights. 320, 323 have 4x 5" headlights. All OEM. There are after market grills that have 3 headlights or 2x 5" and 2x 7" headlights (kind of like a VW) that were made by Hella.

Technically, going to the dual 7" is a "downgrade". Except I don't care, it's a grill that didn't come on any US-bound E21s and it'll allow me to run H4 Crosshairs (which match the roundel and looks tha' shit!).
