    Progress

Well inside they have been preping the car nicely

Damage to the inner fender wheel is minor:

You can see how the door bar didn't bend.

Other PRO3 cars have been through here!

Lance, which shocks/springs are you running?

It's actually not bad once the cut the outside skin off. Heck, the door might be salvageable!

Hate to see this again Lance. Seems like that car is doomed. Glad you are ok!

The car competes in PRO3, sometimes shit happens. The last big one was actually 4 years ago at the same Spring race in Seattle.

So the donor is rolled in:

            And cut:

Here's the pieces we'll use. These are still available as new sheetmetal from BMW, but would have had to have been ordered out of Germany with an 8 week wait. That wasn't going to fit our shedule.

Fitting license plate, love seeing them picked apart and put back together again. Good to see

Worth noting that the Eric Wensberg signed trunk lid was not damaged. Now that would be impossible to replace.

So the "front end repair" being mentioned by some of the old timers was a hit the car took in the Spring race at Pacific Raceways in 2007. This current project will be no where near the work to fix the car in 2007.

Here is some in-car from that 2007 crash, it happens at the beginning of lap #2:

And here is a picture set of the 2007 repair to the front end. If you ever wondered what it takes to replace a full front end on one of these from the firewall forward, here you go:

Yea, we'd have to schedule another M Car winter banquet, hire him to come out to be the guest speaker, and have the car there for him to sign the new trunk lid. Or, ship the car back East to have him sign it, catch a couple of races while back there, then bring the car back home. ha ha

Glad the little sedan lives on! Shit happens, but its nice to see e30s can take it from time to time. They are little tanks! :)

So awesome! I think those are probably the first pics I've seen of a panel repair that massive.

Panel is on, and a door fitted. Hard to see in these images, but the rear tire is toed out due to the hit. Auburn Foreign Car will replace a bad rear trailer arm and half shaft. Then we'll get the car to Dave for paint.

Car back from the shop, rear trailing arm and half shaft replaced. Now on to paint.
