Need some help with a stereo

I just got a new stereo today, finally. But I am having a bit of an issue getting it to work. I can't get it to power on (Stock HU). My wiring harness reads 13ish volts when the car is on. Erik and I plugged in an E28 one the other day and it turned on but this one just has a blank screen. I also need to do the amp bypass.

Anyone want to help out preferably today? I am not very good at this whole wiring ordeal.

Are both your power supply wires. One should be a constant 12v with the car on or off and the other with power only when the car is on

The purple has power. Are you talking about the power antenna wire?

how busy is your schedule? i can help you to do it the right way and not waist time to figure out what wire goes where and just buy new wires, and wire them from your cd player to your speakers and good to go...

Those two wires are for your front speaker. The blue plug you see is for the door sail tweeters which were premium sound.

Honestly, if you have the scratch, I would go with an aftermarket Head Unit and rewire per Luke's instructions. That whole situation back there is so fucking ridiculous. I basically installed a radio harness from a Honda so I now have everything plug and play if I want to go back to stock. Much cleaner in the long run.

My schedule is pretty open. I just don't have a lot of cash for this project sadly. Would it be the stock wiring? I know Luke says use then when possible. I sent him a PM but he hasn't responded yet. There are no HUs I like honestly. I would much rather have the stock look.

Yeah, I understand. I would keep the stock wiring, no need to put in aftermarket stuff.

There were no speakers in my kick panels, stock ones in the back. I am trying to put the stock ones back in. The PO put in an after market HU, front speakers probably, and maybe an amp. All that is gone now and I am having a hell of a time putting everything back together. It doesn't help that I am also colorblind. Which of those wires goes where? I don't understand what they did.
you can't bypass the amp unless you have an aftermarket HU. i would have sent you the OEM amp have you told me.

do not use aftermarket wires, the stock ones are better.

                      Wires:

                      Red/Green --- 12v unswitched
                      Violet/white --- 12v acc
                      brown --- ground
                      grey/red ---- illumination
                      white --- power antennae
white --- amp remote (this is the one in the same harness as the speakers)

If you want a stock look but better performance, you should consider the pre-facelift Z3 deck. I've thought about getting one for my E30 mainly because I love the cleanliness of a stock deck (doesn't scream "steal me!")

I also suggest ripping out all the wiring for the factory fader. One less thing to worry about. I did it with my E30 and it made wiring the deck a breeze (of course, not after I spent forever trying to figure out what the fuck was what...)
