R3V'd my car! :(

Hit black ice right after getting on the I-5 NB express lanes...went into a double tank slapper before t-boning a Toyota. All in all, could have been way worse, I'm not hurt but my wife says her neck isn't feeling too great today.







Fender was pushed back far enough into the tire to puncture it...car didn't really want to start after the accident but i was able to get it started and over to the shoulder.

Anyone know how fault is determined in black ice cases? I wasn't doing anything wrong and there were other vehicles spinning from black ice in the general vicinity.

You are at fault. You spun. It sucks ass, but it is what it is.

If you need a body shop to fix that, it's almost certainly totaled. If the shell is straight, I'd expect that you can fix it fairly cheaply by bolting on new parts and possibly straightening out a bit of the underlying sheet metal.

I have a driver side fender I am willing to donate to the cause. It has a crease along the lip but it isn't nearly as mangled as that one. That way you could put a spare on there and roll around.

Let's do the math, shall we? E30 Blue Book value is $4.68 with a mint low mileage example cresting the lofty heights of $5.00 if, and it's a big if, the hot girlfriend stays with the car.

Due to my intimate knowledge and experience in all things e30 i immediately noticed the flat front tire. Yep, it's totaled.

Feel your pain, but I really can't consider it a real R3V duh as you did have 4 snows on the car. To fast for conditions?

Repair it for the winter and find another.

Until you get under the fender, hood and bumper you won't know for sure. As of this moment it doesn't look like it is but be prepared for the worst.
