What kind of tools do you have? How much experience? There are a lot of factors in a job like this.

Make sure you have the right torque wrench, a dial wrench is preferred, this will help you ensure your bolts are getting tighter, not just yielding. You'll also want a wheel so you can get the angle torque right.

Make sure you have all new exhaust nuts, and a tool to get the ones that strip ( almost guaranteed to happen) off.

The intake manifold is the worst part imo. You can make things easier by installing the 323i manifold on the 731 head first.

Without swapping electronics, and having everything ready, I would guess 8-10 hours working at a non furious pace and taking breaks to eat, poop, etc.

Never done a head swap but I have lots of help with lots of experience. I have a torque wrench it is a dial wrench and if any special tools are needed I work at autozone so I can get the ones to rent easy. I will have a while to do it like a week just don't want to be carless for over a week.

What other parts? Make a list and I bet you can score most of them at the picnic.

I'll give you a free bump with a caveat, what was wrong with your old head or are you building the stroker now? I picked up a great head from a fellow member here for $210 shipped then redid the valves and seals had the deck resurfaced and pressure tested for $125 at my local machine shop. For a guaranteed good head you'll be in it a little bit. The 885 heads seem to be drying up pretty badly. If you have it already maybe we could help you work on fixing the one you have?

Motor I have now(m20b27) runs fine just burns a bit oil but at least I know its bringing the oil to the head lol. Yeah I'm building a super budget stroker then as time goes on add performance parts and turbo.

I have everything you need there. I'm up in Bellingham. Pm me if you wanna talk about prices and make a deal. I also have a sick valve cover painted crinkle.

It's not a stroker if you're just putting on an 885 head. :hitler:

Now, if you use a crank with a larger throw, that's a stroker.
