I have a bone to pick with Washington..

    Ok, so..

Back on 10/20, I was driving down to Portland and got pulled over and issued a ticket for speeding in the Olympia area. When I came back up, I sent the ticket in within the 15 allowed days (like it said). I went to the post office on 11/2 and dropped the envelope with the ticket in it into the post office box at 4:17PM. I didn't hear anything back for quite some time. I have tried calling a couple different times, but could not get through because they close their phone lines at 3:30PM. I just tried calling last week and could not get through as it was past 3:30. First of all, what court house is only open until 3:30. Thurston County must be hurting pretty bad since they can only stay open until then due to "budget cuts". Anyways, fast forward a week.. My cousin was leaving the apartment today and then brought in an envelope from the state of Washington; specifically from the "Department of Licensing". I open it up to find a notice of upcoming suspension of my license. Funny thing is, the only way they would know the address they sent it to, was if they received the ticket I sent in to them; as this address is not listed in any of my things. So apparently, they received the ticket, but never sent me back a court date. I know they never sent anything back, because I checked the mail often and asked my cousin if there was anything in the mail for me; there never was. What is also funny, I apparently have been issued a Washington State license number, even though I have never had one.

Overall, this is just VERY frustrating, and I am curious if this has happened to anyone else??

PS- Washington should get on Oregon's level. Oregon issues you a pay by date and a court date right when you get the ticket; not this crazy shit of sending in the only proof you have within 15 days, and then you will find out.

The suspended license might be for someone else with the same name.

I have had that happen to quite a few people that I know. Where they didn't know that it was suspended, and only found out when they got pulled over. Hopefully your situation works out in your favor! I just cannot believe this is real life, because I had a feeling that this was going to happen.

No, it's not. It's the date I got pulled over. They have no info for me on the return page, except for some bullshit Washington ID # they made up for me since I do not have a Washington ID. There is no name, DOB, phone number, or email. Just some made up license #. Stupid fucks..

Turns out.... They got my request, and it got returned back to them. They never bothered to contact me or anything, even though that was a hand written (perfectly, if I might add, because I did not want a mistake like this to be made) address. They just let it sit there, and me miss my court date; which was on the 12th apparently. Now I have to MAIL in (fuck Washington and their mailing in system) my request for another court date. At this point, I am looking to get the case dismissed due to this not being my fault and for the inconvenience. SO FRUSTRATED. Now to waste another stamp and hopefully they can get it right this time.... -______-

OP: Tell me about it! I had a suspended license since 2010 and had absolutely no idea. My address has never changed and Ive never added an address for school or anything. I got a seatbelt ticket as a passenger, got the ticket reduced, sent in the payment by mail, never heard anything back. Only way i found out my license was suspended was when I went to get my motorcycle endorsement this september.

Correct. I moved up a couple of months ago and don't see the point in getting one since I will be moving back to Oregon soon. Why pay over $200 in fees, just to pay it again soon? No point.

I hear of this happening quite constantly! It's quite ridiculous, especially if you never changed your address. I am very upset with the way Washington runs their system after this ordeal..
