Hey Guys,
I know I'm gonna get flamed for being a dumbass, but whatever. I've seen plenty of guys on here talk about not worrying about torque specs. Well, here's a good case to be mindful. A few months ago I was putting an IE stress bar on my car, was rushing, and torqued the shock tower bolts to 60 ft lbs vs. 16 (I can be a tad dyslexic at times).
Last night, I was cleaning up some injection stuff, realized my mistake when I went to re-install the bar, and while torquing to 16 lbs, this happened. I was supposed to be at the track today and am thankful I popped it last night, not while bombing into turn 1 at PIR. Oh, and GC sells replacement plates for $12/ea. So I'm out $40 bucks with shipping and a few hours to drop the struts and replace.
