What is the going rate for a m10?

not seriously looking right now, but i would like to put something a little different in my e21, and a m10 with EFI swap couldn't be easier, and i would imagine pretty cheap.

What would be an appropriate price for an engine harness and ecu?
    anyone have one laying around?

...I am confused why an M10 in an E21 is different....

...and a GOOD M10 is getting pretty darned hard to find, these days, 'round these parts...

e21 have CIS injection and a different compression ratio. also rev limiter would be nice instead of valve float.

CIS parts are becoming hard to come by and it doesn't allow for great MPG.
e30 m10 i have found to have smoother revs as well. cis is a bitch to tune to get the same feeling.
also EFI setup can allow me to do MS way(way way way) down the road so turbo is more possible

with CIS you have to find a bunch of parts off saabs volvos and porsches at the junk yard to not blow up your motor

Just do a fucking m50 swap...you have the mounts and adapter. M10 = no go zone

My friend is part way though an M10 EFI E21 right now. He's a helpful guy, here's his thread. I remember it costing ~$400 for a full swap with warranty from the yard.

That said, finding a good condition EFI M10 might be a bit challenging. If I were going through the trouble of swapping something, M52 would be the least I'd upgrade to. Keeping it stock is another option of course.
Drive it hard. Maintain it well.

Actually, it could be easier. You could just get the necessary parts off of an e30 and put them on your e21. Everything will bolt on and you'll eliminate the risk of installing an engine in poor shape as well as possibly save cost. People have been doing this for years on e21's and 2002's.

One down side I can think of is if your head has the ports in if for CIS injectors you'd have to plug them or leave the injectors installed. People have just cut up their old injectors and filled them with JB Weld though.

Customer brought in a full m10 e30 drive train from fan clutch to diff, ECU etc to use as a core to rebuild for boost - came out of swap car. We found some major rust on his car and is considering scrapping the project. Can see what he wants for it. Shipping wouldn't be overly bad with our commercial account if you have a commercial delivery address. Cost me $180 to ship a roll cage to NY from FL.

thats what i figured, my fuel pump should push enough and everything else should be bolt on.
i was thinking doing just the head but my bottom has over 500,000 that im aware of(when the tach broke)

ohhh Austin, i traded Jesse those for a full poly kit for my car.
im going to start school here shortly so the m50 would have been way down the road, and i want something not so finicky as CIS
i should be able to do the swap in a weekend if i keep my tranny.

Oh, sorry, I forgot about the CIS performance tax! You're right, L-jet IS worthwhile.

But the CIS pump only pushed 22 (28?) psi, so it might not make it up to
the 40 (ish) psi that L-jet wants.

Just to be evil, how about an M42? Now THAT would be a little different...

m42 is pretty common swap for e21s actually but you have to make a custom brackets and drive shaft and build a mount for the coil packs.

m10 is just a drop in

The M10 in my 02 gets me where I need too. I would rather have a M10 than a M20 in a daily just because of how reliable it is... For a hoon mobile an M20 is proper tho'.

I have become a huge m10 fanboy these days, whether it be in one of e21s that have come and gone in my life or the only affordable e30 these days. i have had alot of them in the past 3 years

                              i agree m10s are great.

but back to the original question what is the going price for these?
and does anyone local have one?

not what should i cram in my e21? lol
