I've had work done at both places. Both do fantastic work, both with distinct differances and advantages. Both will be used again if needed.

If you just want to get by - find a shop who'll Dip Your Car. It'll be cheaper than a real paint job, look decent from 50 feet away, and require little prep. Plus, it will give you a chance to try out a color. Then if you hate, just peel it off..1991 325i MT2 Touring (JDM bro)

Interesting... never heard of a dip, how does it work?
Along these lines you could also get a full body wrap for way less than a paint job, and its also disposable.Comment

Plastidip.
Originally, it was used for tool handles and stuff like that, but they thinned it down a bit and offer it in aerosol can or quart so you can spray whatever else. Sort of a lightweight rubberized coating.
One set of purple stripes on my racecar Plastidip, the other are vinyl (wanted to experiment with both.)
Many racers are using both options to do their cars so when a panel gets banged up or some random racer (miata) bump in to you, you can fix the damage and throw new vinyl or dip and look good as new..
In fact, I am thinking about wrapping the Bronzit when it's done.
Not sure on a total dip car cost, but probably around a grand or less. A full E30 wrap is usually around 2K.1991 325i MT2 Touring (JDM bro)

The materials to dip a car retail for around $400 depending on what color(s) and if you do a pearlizer or a glossifier. I've seen shops range from $5-700 to dip your car for you, and cheaper offers if you're willing to mask/clean up yourself.sigpic

Oh, come on now, we've been perfecting our 'run into each other' skills forsome random racer (miata) bump in to you
quite a while, now...
...and there aren't that many miatae out there anymore!
tnow, sometimes I just mess with people. It's more entertaining that way. george gravesComment

Come on Austin... That's highway robbery.
Simple fact is Haurys doesn't want your business, they want to do insurance work that has better margins so they make it prohibitively expensive to use them. Some people do anyway...Comment

Surprisingly, none of the damage incurred on my car has ever been from another E30. A couple different Miata's, A Dodge Viper, and a tow dolly..1991 325i MT2 Touring (JDM bro)

Haury's resprayed my car a few years back after a color mishap by the original painter (after which he disappeared) and the job they did was top notch. As Lance says, they're not the place for a quick paint job, they do high quality work.I've had work done at both places. Both do fantastic work, both with distinct differances and advantages. Both will be used again if needed.

I wrapped my car and the total cost was about $300. It took about 25 hours total.
A while back I did a roller paint job with rustoluem on a different car. You can get a very respectable finish if you are willing to invest enough time sanding. Total cost is about $100. I'm going to do this again but this time I'm going to spray the paint.
Before you laugh off the idea of painting your car with rustoleum, look at the results people have obtained from this method.

The rustoleum method I have considered as well.
The real benefit of wrapping the car though, is if you want to update or change the look of the car, it's easier than stripping and prepping paint..
