Dead engine, no garage, what to do?

I can't decide what to do.

My '87 bronzit 325 eta just gave up the ghost. Miss firing pretty bad, with very low compression numbers on cylinder 4. I suspect it is due to worn rings, because I was getting some blow by and oil on the plugs. No mayonaise so I don't think it's a blown head gasket. Basically I think it needs a new motor. The problem is I don't have a garage or space to do a swap into it, and I don't want to pay $$$ to have a shop swap it out for me.

So do I try and sell the dead car?

I've put a fair amout of goodies into it. Bilsteins, sport seats, keyless entry, new headunit/lukebox/premium sound, chipped ecu, 3.46 diff., remanufacture prop shaft, etc... Do I try and part it out of most of the stuff before hand? *see also no garage*

Or do I go through the hassel of renting a space from a coworker or r3v'r, sourcing a motor, and sucking it up a do a quick swap?

You would probably get more parting it out. Etas don't go for a whole lot, especially nonrunning bronze ones.

Is it driveable at all? you might be able to pull of a swap in a single day if you have a motor ready to go and head over to Stu's garage in kirkland. You can rent a lift and tools hourly or for a whole day or even multiple days if needed.

How the hell are you going to part it out without a garage?

Buy Brads (spiDmang) M20B25 motor and you could have it swapped out in a weekend. K.I.S.S.

edit: nm Brad already sold his motor, but the same idea should apply

Sort of driveable. For a short way... It runs alright for a bit until it starts misfiring, but when it does start things get a little hairy in the rain/narrow seattle streets, because when it does hit on all 6 it throws the backend sideways with the burst of power. I would probably have to tow it most of the way for where its going for surgery.

I've got a complete, running M20B25 that I would happily sell you. No wiring changes since it's also from an '87, so that's a plus there. Would be possibly interested in buying the car for parts. Shoot me a PM if either of those options sound good to you. Thanks.

Not my only car. I've been driving my fiance's chevy cobalt since it went down.
Definitely the most attactive offer. I'll shoot you a PM.

Austin! I'll keep you in mind if I don't end up doing the swap.

Dude, Buy Austin's motor, get some buddies together, and do a one day engine swap. I did one a few years ago alone, it can be done.

                      WTB engine

Worked out a garage to do the surgery. Now I just need a motor, especially near Mukilteo / Lynnwood area. I'll probably start pulling it apart this week.

Anyone have a motor you want to get rid of?

                        I do.

Eta, siting in a Bronzit 2 door.

You can have it if you can find a way down to Portland to grab it.
