If you're still parting, how much for the driver's side door latch (that latches to the frame deadbolt)? Shipped to 97374. Thanks

Stock exhaust to the muffler or is it headers/etc? I'd be interested in either one (assuming that part isn't IX specific).

        Dash

Z3 shifter + knob, if not included in the transmission sale. Also interested in the e36 leather handbrake handle.

4 doors.. so much room for activities!

There's been a lot of opinions in this thread. I understand and appreciate the sentiments. Since this is my car that is being parted, let me respond and say a few words.

And not just manual coupe iX too, but it's all VIN matching and it's got factory cardinal interior in great shape for its age.

If you had shown up with a cashier's check for $3500, I would have been happy to sign the title over to you and you can keep it or restore it to your heart's content. You certainly had enough time to PM or contact me via another method and commit to purchasing this car whole prior to the start of the part out.

If you really didn't want to see another E30 die, fine. Put your money where your mouth is.

I agree on the BAT auction idea someone out there would love to own this car. Even if it is worth more in parts I hate parting cars its a total pain in the butt compared to selling outright for basically the same cash value. time is worth money
I didn't know you know all of the circumstances leading up to this part out! How presumptuous of you.

Time is indeed worth money, I know that as well as anyone else. I've wasted plenty of time (and money) already to try to sell this car whole. I have to cut my losses at some point, and that point is now.

I have explored other means and avenues to sell the car whole prior to deciding on parting the car, including listing on BaT. While, I generally agree with what you're saying, I have weighed the totality of circumstances, the pros and cons of part out vs attempting to sell whole, as well as thought about the risk vs return of both over the time horizon, and I have concluded that parting out the car is the right path forward for me.

Makes total sense, and I've done the same as a part of weighing whether I should part the car or not. It just so happens that in this situation with this specific set of circumstances, parting out is the route with the better return for me given the risks.

I can appreciate what you're saying, but that's what everybody uses as an excuse. All people want are bargain basement deals.

I am not a thrift store. I don't do layaway. I am not going to bend to "One Dollar, Bob!" offers just to see an E30 saved.

Everyone wants to be an armchair restorer, dictating their particular conception of morality on cars onto other people. Everyone loves telling others what they can or cannot do with their cars, yet when given the chance to practice what they preach, they balk. Give me a break.

To those who are merely providing a warning of the undoubtedly time and labor intensive process of parting a car out, thank you. I am going into this fully aware.

The decision to part the car was mine, and mine alone. Brad is merely facilitating the transactions. You are certainly entitled to your opinion, and even express them within the rules of this forum, but it's not going to change the course which this car is going down. The market has determined that the car is not worth my asking price, and if the car is worth more in parts, then so be it. If you have any issues or some misguided moral objections with a part out, you can take it up with me.

                          --

I have had this car for a long time and overall it's been a very rewarding experience. However, with some of the recent powertrain-related issues that have started to crop up. I have decided that it's not worth it for me to keep this particular iX anymore. I drove the car one last time on Saturday, and it was as much fun as it's ever been. The E30 is an incredibly fun chassis; I doubt this is it for me, perhaps some time down the road, I will find myself in another one.

I've been looking at the iX market for the past few months, and iXes just don't seem to be selling, even fairly priced ones. People love the concept of the iX, but most don't actually want to own one and deal with the particularities of one.

If I sit on this for several more months, will it sell as a whole car? Maybe, maybe not. However, I'm not really willing to keep dragging this on, waste time, and keep putting more money into the car with no end in sight. I have learned a ton and I've met some incredible people because of this car. It's sad to see it go, but it's time for me to move on.

I do want to thank those who reached out seeking to purchase the vehicle based on genuine interest and in good faith. It's too bad that we were unable to make a deal happen. Best wishes in your future endeavors.

                          This part out is happening.

                            Makes sense..

Possibly because almost everything drivetrain related is "iX only." From what I have seen/heard/dealt with, almost nothing on the iX drivetrain can be used in anything but an iX, and the same for the opposite.

That's not to say they are a bad car, my buddy loves his two iX's. But he loves his M3 more..

Misguided morals? Armchair restorers? I'd be willing to bet that most people in here have at least one project (you know I do, given your snarky comments in the past). If being a little disappointed seeing an uncommon example of an increasingly hard-to-find car being parted out for no reason makes one have "misguided morals", then so be it.

Like you said, your car, your decision. But to shit on those who offer up advice, or even a wrench, is pretty lame. It's just a car Cheuk.

And given the last line in your little diatribe, you may or may not have misinterpreted my previous comment. I wasn't saying that it bass shitty that this part out was happening, I was saying it was shitty that the fog lights sold.
