    help me make the picnic

so my m42 sedan is running absolutely terribly. It started out of nowhere and I diagnosed it to find that the o2 sensor relay was dead and the ICV was frozen. Ok cool, I replaced them and threw new plugs in (NGK BKR6EK) the car idles now rock solid. no misses or anything.

if you go over 15-20% throttle the engine does nothing. you hear the intake wide open but no power whatsoever. its as if the ignition is turned off, but the tach doesnt drop or anything. the throttle response all around is SHIT. if idling I can go WOT and the idle actually doesnt change just the engine starts missing like a mofo

the car runs better in open loop than closed loop. from what I have diagnosed all the engine's sensors are operating correctly (coolant temp sensor, AFM, TPS). I had a fuel pressure gauge on it last week when diagnosing and it read in spec with no jumps or anything.

I do NOT want to miss the picnic, please help me figure out what sensor is causing this. TIA fellas... Im pretty stumped

I installed a brand new fuel pump (had in the garage so why not lol) and got a fuel pressure gauge on the car tonight. Didnt test it too thoroughly cause of daylight but I left the gauge on so I can tomorrow. Engine built pressure quickly up to 48psi with new fuel pump then immediately dropped off to a steady 39psi at idle. the moment you open the throttle the engine dies. I have a video but it honestly sucks and its hard to read the gauge unless zoomed in. the pressure starts bleeding off immediately down to 10psi where it kind of holds steady.

tomorrow Im gonna go HAM checking every single thing on the intake side of the engine

Good luck, toes. I agree with Brad (Rainrider) as well. Vac leak sounds like your issue. Could be a substantial one too. Smoke test it dude

Why can't I help but to think of this?

With that - my e30 won't start - might not make it to the picnic. Replaced coil, pump, ecu, wires, CPS tests good. I've got to remove the radiator to check the cap/rotor. Damn you m30 swap.

So I feel your pain. My thought and prays are with you as well.

..I got a spare M20 you could install.

But then you may never put the M42 back in it.

                            :)

You have changed the filter?? I had a car e30 325 that would idle fine, but with wot the pressure went way down because of the filter being dirty....
                            Just an idea:)
