Matt. Ugh. Whatever. I really cannot keep up talking in like however many threads we're talking through.

But unless you know of any shop that'll replace the knob piece with my old, perfectly working one..let me know. Maybe Luke? If not, I'll probably be buying Dannys.

Eric, find a late model "Slider" deck in good shape...the one with the CD changer port.

LMK when you get it. You can build an iPod input, add real amplifiers, etc.

Personally, if i wanted a stock "look" I would find a '96 or later C33 deck, so i would have the ability to control an iPod...but I really don't care about iPods, as I don't own one.

For now, go to your nearest auto parts store that carries CRC brand chemicals. Buy a can of "electronics cleaner", pop the cover off the top of your deck and spray the fuck out of the volume control itself (not the damn knob, but the actual control) while turning it frantically. This should help with the scratchies.

Would the '96 or later C33 deck be in an e36..also a "slider" deck which you talk about? If so, I was originally looking for one cause the quality is better, yet it still gives it that stock look.

Haha..but okay, hopefully I'll have time to pick up a can tonight or tomorrow. Thanks for the help, this is exactly what I was looking for.

The c33 is NOT the "slider". Slider came in E30s, I think '91 only. The C33 came in E36.

Ah, okay. Well Danny on here has a radio from his '91 318is. So if the spray stuff doesn't work, I'll probably buy his. And I was looking for an e36 one..but the wiring/plug-ins are totally different compared to an e30 (obviously) and I had no clue how to re-wire everything to get it to work properly.

I would do the C33 and a modded facia if that is your goal.

Hit me up, I am in Vancouver fairly often. I need to get to PDX and do a couple of jobs anyway, I can add yours to the list.

that is understandable. maybe i just like music more than the next person, so i can't understand installing something that limits ones listening experience to the radio, or *GASP* tapes. I have a non-flashy, easy to read display on my deck that isn't blue, its an organic white, and its wired to an old 40gb ipod that lives in my glovebox that holds pretty much every album i have. i can browse the ipod with the deck. it might not look period correct (since absolutely no new car stereos looks 20 years old), but at the same time it doesnt look out of place.

oh and +1 on the electrical cleaner thing.

Lol, I know what you mean. I (as shown in a previous post) use the cassette tape player adapter. I just like the old school look I suppose. I don't think I saw your head unit in your car, but I like how you mentioned that it doesn't look out of place. A lot of cd players or what have you, do tend to look out of place. I know with the new head units you can get the aux cord for your iPod. CDs are just annoying because once a new song comes out, you'll have to re-burn a totally new cd just for that one song..if you want to listen to it. I'm going to check out a few places for some electrical cleaner tomorrow and see if that fixes my issue.

lol at someone "wiring" a stock deck in for no real reason! Nice downgrade!

Just read that you only make 128 dollars i kinda feel bad for you now.(guess 20 dollar stocker is all you can afford)
Oregon unemployment pays me twice that to sit on my ass (not that i want too, fucking economy)

Honestly, you have no reason to talk down to me. Do I even know you? Yeah, I didn't think so. Downgrade? No. Upgrade more like it, my previous stock radio was broke..ie, no sound whatsoever.

Don't feel bad, that's the last thing I want. And once again, a "20 dollar stocker" is something that I can only afford? Come on, really? Incase you never learned to read, I WANT a STOCK E30 RADIO. Not a new deck. Not cds. Nothing new. And good for you getting paid to do jack sh!t. Oh, by the way, I'm just a senior in HS. I'm not no 20 something unemployed person, which I'm guessing you are.

You're one hell of an annoying ass, degrading person.

Eric, i have a stock unit from a 92 vert that you can have for free.

if you wanna swing down to pick it up, it would be easier than shipping it.

Luke, can you rig a CD43 to have an ipod hookup?
