Seth, the CD43 (or damn near any post-'96) BMW deck can be used as an AUX or Ipod, with rudimentary iPod control and display.

My only bitch is the price of the adapters, and the fact that the aftermarket harnesses do not have a pin where it is needed to access the databus, so you basically have to either hack a harness or find a factory harness.

Short answer is Yes, you can.

Did you find a decent dashboard for the red car yet? I still wanna fix my fuckup on the heater controls, I just don't wanna do it until we can swap the dash too!

yeah, Joe has a dash for me... for the price of what he's gonna charge me for the dash, and to install it, it's worth it to not have to fuck with it myself, or worry about you having to deal with it.

i need to score two more of the CD43 units, and have those hooked up for ipod as well.

i should have kept the one from my 4dr, but while feeling generous, i let the buyer take it along with the car.
wonder if he'd rather have a nifty new alpine instead.

This should help with the scratchies.

Alright well I went to shucks, office depot, radio shack, and 2 other audio/auto parts stores and no one carried the CRC brand chemicals for a radio or any electronics. Is CRC important as a brand? Office depot had their own brand of what I believe is CRC. It's in a liquid forum, it has a little straw/tube and you pull the trigger to spray? It says that it's for electronics, but I was searching for CRC just to stay on the safe side.

Yeah tomorrow will work. Could you PM me a picture of the back side of it, as I want to make sure the connections are the same as mine.

Ah, a mac user? Lol. But the rear connectors are different than mine. I'm not sure where I'd get the other connectors or its other half of the harness. Hmm.

it all looks pretty simple. probably any junkyard that has e30s would have the connectors. they kinda look simple enough to fab your own with shit from radio shaq.

i'd ask Luke. he seems to know one or two things about radios.

eric i think you have a amplified system so a deck like sefb222 has wouldnt work because it is for a non amplified system ( i could be WAY wrong here also ). then again it may appear different but everything is just in a different lay out than yours but may use the same plugs or just not all the ones that you have. kind of confusing, id ask luke.

Eric, that deck that Seth has is the one you want.

that is the 'slider' with the CD changer port.

How difficult is it to re wire it to mine? What all would I need..or could you just use new wires and whatnot?

Check out a real electronics store like Norvac Electronics in Beaverton. There are plenty of good brands. But I would shop at a professional supplier like Norvac.
