Spring just around the corner = Time for a tech day

So whos is interested in a tech day? I've been asked several times to host another one so since I couldn't do a fall one, a spring one it is! I'm thinking saturdays work best, and April 4th or 11th came up first.

So lets get a list of who wants to attend and what day works or doesn't work for them.

This will be hosted at my place in the Olympia area.

pics from the last tech day:

That would depend on what you want to work on. This isn't like the E30 picnic tech day where you listen to people talk or demonstrate set topics. Bring whatever you have to repair/replace (please keep major projects at home ;)) I have most tools to do suspension, brakes, etc... if you have nothing to work on you can still hang out and BS with fellow E30 owners for the day.

Ahh awesome. Well, I need to replace my throw out bearing..which I think is my issue. When the clutch is out, basically the car is in neutral..it rattles and whatnot. When I press the clutch in, the noises go away. Would this be considered a major project? I want to help with it cause I need to learn my way around the engine and tranny, but with good guidence of course :)

what rattles? when in neutral, it is normal to hear the gears in the tranny "chatter", and when you push the clutch in, you are disconnecting the transmission from the engine, so the gears in the transmission stop turning, hence the noise goes away.

or is this some other noise you are talking about?

btw i would come to this, but i dont know what part of washington you are in, cramer. if it were vancouver then i would probably come.

It's in the first post, Olympia area ;)

Last time we have quite a few drive up from OR.

Throwout bearings are a rather large project because of the tranny removal. If you have some volunteers who have done it before you can tackle it but Derek's clutch and tranny replacement took all day plus a little with 4 guys working on it.. who have done it before :D

I'd be up for hanging out and lending a hand, I don't have any pending projects at the moment.

apparantly throwout bearings are such a pain in the ass people don't want to replace it even when they have the tranny and clutch out!

Ahh okay. Well, I might do it another day during the summer. Are there any negative effects a wrongly installed throw out bearing would cause?

Josh: Yes. That looks like Mayhems car. Haha. Am I right?

Ya it sounds like the classic G260 "Marbles in the tranny" but TO THE EXTREME!!!!

Me and mayhem made it to the last one when his car was actually running.

I'll put it on my calendar but I can't commit yet. I have drill the 7th, I'm off the 11th. It would be fun to come by, I'll bring my O-silly scope.

                          What time?
