My point again is that everbody talks about meets but nobody wants to show up for meets. I gotta give JDM guys their props. They show up for Jap cars events. We talk shit about their cars but they will participate.

I am planning another one for February 12, 2012. Same time. Same place. My bro Chip showed up in his stock, unmolested, super clean vert. Pics will be up this weekend.

Just trying to bring it together. Its free, except for the money you spend on gas. I am going to kept trying this. Maybe we will have better participation next time.

      Peace.
G, these guys are young kids, they have all the time in the world to bullshit around. I used to hang at meets all the time, then a thing called life happened hahaha. My car leisure time consists of track days, and wrenching.

But seriously, any of you locals want to have a BBQ at the shop in pompano, just speak up and we'll make it happen. Starting in early March, 2002 fever is back in season, and whoever brings their work clothes- its all you can eat/drink! That goes for you too gary! ;)

Jonny Cash just posted an invite to have a BBQ at the shop in Pompano. Real Talk, I think its a good gesture that an E30 repair shop wants to sponser a meet. Thats good shit.

With that being said, the "meet" at Glades and the Turnpike in Boca scheduled for Feb. 12th has been cancelled. I spent my own money, my own time and put the effort together to locate a place. At least it got the attention of the haters. Lmao..... I was just trying to put something together since there was a lot of chatter about E30 meets.

And just so you know, i'm no kid. I've got condoms your age. And life happens to all of us. If attending a meet once a month for 4 hours or once every 3 months cuts into your leisure time, then you must have some other shit going on that we dont need to know. The meet would have been a good place to advertise your business. Congratulations on the racing, I hear you guys are doing a great job. But dont get so cocky that you turn your balls into tits and try to shout someone elses efforts down. All E30 owners are wrenchers. Thats the nature of the car.

And another thing, the locals should not have to speak up on nothing. Since you are calling my efforts out. Be pro active and put something together on your own. I am always up for meeting E30 owners and respecting their efforts.

Oh yeah, thanks for the invite. I will be there..............

hahaha We need to get together sometime gary-

You know me, we've met a few times. Im Jay, johns friend.. White two door e30. (the car you want to buy)
Im not trying to shut you down, I commend what youre doing I think its great.
It comes across wrong through text.. Im speaking for myself not anyone else.

I think John is a good resource to everyone in this area, there seems to be a good amount of traffic at the shop, im sure his phonebook is full of e30 guys.

about the old condoms.. hey.. you should've read the package, theyre one time use only. Pimp like you should know these things

I know who you are. It was the car I wanted to by before your boy sold you out. I thought you were speaking for yourself??? And if John has so many E30 guys phone numbers, then why has he NEVER sponsered a meet. Just a Thank You For Your Support type thing. BBQ's are good, not hating on a good BBQ, but I'm speaking of a full blown meet. Once a year, once evry 3 months, something.

Oh, almost forgot. As for one time use on the condoms.................you had time to read that?????????????????........................... Lmao...............

How did I get dragged into this? lol

I had weekly meets at the old shop and it wasn't uncommon to have 10-15 cars there in that little parking lot, you know that. Since being at the new shop we have not had any meets there (almost a year already) and have been discussing having one again. There's more than ample parking at this place so people won't have to move cars to let the early guys out anymore lol.

As far as e30 contacts, the guy looked at me funny when buying a new phone and asked "Are you kidding me? I don't have that many contact in my entire phone, never mind from one group."

Gary, Sunday is tough. Not that I don't want to go to meets, but work long hours during the week, trying to keep people's BMW's running, or going fast. 3 of the four kids play soccer, the other is a cheerleader and the oldest also doubles up on the sports and plays lacrosse - weekends are quite packed for me as mentioned earlier in this thread.

Its because the meets were never a huge planned ordeal, it was just "hey were hanging out at the shop, if youre free you know where to find us' by text message .
As time went on people knew that tuesday night was car hangout night, the simple text gave them the reminder. Some people showed certain nights when they were free, and vice versa..

Its the reason char-hut is still going, people just know thats the night people may or may not be there.. They swing by if they can.. Some nights 20 cars, some nights zero.

We still wrench tuesday nights at our new shop, and we always have the same few guys that like to come bbq and wrench and talk cars with us. sometimes 5-6 guys, sometimes none.

So like I said before, my advice to get it going is just keep the community tight with the 3-4 guys you have. Make it a set day and spot that people can remember. After a couple months, if youre consistant, i guarantee people will show. We can all start by having a contact list.. Everyone posts their names/ phone numbers

the condom thing no.. thats just what i was told... *trips over baby toys*

Gotta start somewhere. And I was just trying to get her going. I realize Sunday's are hard for some of us. And really, no matter what day its on, somebody will not be able to make it. Its only 1 day a month or 1 day every 3 months. If you can make money servicing local BMW cars. You can certainly give back by going to or sponsoring a local meet and showing them you appreciate their business. And if you took the time, as I did to research a good spot. Then get permission to use it. And all the other particulars, its a time consuming. I had flyers made up and took them around to several BMW service shops, posted in R3V, posted at Publix, etc.

I agree with you that Char Hut has a rep. But we could start our own rep. Again consistancy is relative. I have tried this 3 times using my own resources and my business resources. As always, if anyone has any thing they can add to make it happen, chime in. But dont just sit and talk shit about something you have not made an effort to contribute to.

When Vedubin started his thread, he was looking for active E30 events. The South Florida thread has thousands of viewers. We could make it happen. People just need to put time in. The first meet I planned i even had free BMW logo baseball caps for the first 25 cars. Cost me money. Only 6 cars showed up and I ended up giving the other caps to bimmer people on the streets. I gave some away to a few homeless people begging for money. I gave them a couple of bucks and a cap to keep the sun off their head.

So my apologies if i sound a little like a Miami Dolphin fan, but I am. South Florida E30 community talks about winning the Super Bowl, but they dont want to build a team to do it with.

                  Be blessed.

hey Im throwing ideas out there.. That counts for something..

how do you think tower shop friday nights started..
rolando's meets had a good showing 3 or so years ago at CB smith.. Thats where i met all of these guys.

All of this said.. Ill try my hardest to come out to the next meet you organize, and tell every bmw guy in my phone book to do the same.
my little girl will be born on the 17th, so in and around that timeframe i wont make it. But Im totally down for a meet one of these weekends. Im subscribed here so keep us posted.

This two local threads thing bites. Everyone is cross posting on the same forum for the same loacls. Miami thread has been going for years, why we dividing?

So why not have a South Florida thread only. And that will include everybody in Southeast Florida from Ft. Pierce down to the Keys. Ask the mods if they approve. Maybe they can be combined.?????????? IJS...................................
