I'm down for anything, and I'm coming from PA. I've got a few PA BMW buddies that would also most likely be down.

Was there any serious interest in a mini-meet for the Carlisle Import show? Someone mentioned it earlier in this thread. It's less then 2 hours from me. I guess it would be better to start that conversation in a new thread so we don't disrupt the ideas for the big meet. Feel free to PM me if you are interested in something like that though.

Im in! If you need any help planning, let me know Bobby.

I think Chattanooga would be an awesome location for this. We have TONS of perfect roads to drive around here. The dragon is only 1 hour away from here and we have great roads leading up to the dragon. We are only 20 minutes from one of the best rafting spots in the Southeast. I could go on forever on how this would be a great place to have it. I didnt read through this entire thread but I think this would be great! Nice chance to meet some other E30 freaks.

I've heard good things about the dragon. I'm in Chicago, and willing to drive a state over or two for the right thing. Aren't there a lot of Jersey E30 guys? Where's the dragon at? How about Ohio or Pennsilvania? Those are kinda east coast, and central to a bunch of good states. Is there anything interesting there?

Wells, there's also an Octoberfest, put on by BMWCCA, each year that is open to all BMWs of any nature. I just wanted to point this out, cause not to many people on this board seem to be members of BMWCCA. I think the event is awesome, granted expensive, but it's a really amazing event to be apart of.

I'd love to drive the tail of the dragon, that road looks badass. But, I doubt I'll have a chance to drive all the way over there, considering I want to do a coop or internship this summer.

I will be doing my best to make it to next year's Octoberfest though - you guys should really keep that big event in mind too.

How long do you think this would end up being?

Jesus that's a long post. Although I agree with the curse of being in South Florida, I ask for your consideration when choosing a city. I am already planning to have a 2nd driver to alternate while one rests. We all have lives, and in order to make the best out of the time for the meet, we must save every second possible on our trip.

I'm down to rally as many guys as we possibly can.

Unfortunately, Florida is kinda in the outer parts. Nothing is going to be central for Florida AND the rest of the gang.

I think that the drive for us MS guys is going to be in the neighborhood of 6hrs, so it's not like any of us are gettin' off easy here. It's just trying to find a place that will be the MOST central for the MOST people, AND still have something to do when we get wherever that is.

I've been terribly busy with my last semester of nursing school here, so I've not been able to devote the time to this as I would like to. The good news is, it's still many months away, so we have time.

At this point we know the meet will go down near the dragon, at least geographically speaking. That's to say, Knoxville, Chattanooga, Gatlinburg are all top contenders for the main meeting place.

IF you guys would all like to put it to a vote on which of those three areas to host, then we can do that. If not, then we will be deciding at some point in the next little while which it is, and then post later more details as they are worked out.

Keep in mind that most of us will have some distance to cover to make the meet. There will be some that will travel less distance, but that's okay with me too. I would drive 12hrs to do a meet with you guys if the turnout is worthy.

The idea is to gather as many as is humanly possible at one time. Again, this will ultimately be open to ANY BMW owner that wishes to participate, but it's primarily going to be geared for us E30 guys. There will be trophies/prizes/plaques to be awarded in various categories judged at a people's choice concours, probably to be held on Saturday. There will be T-shirts as well, and anything else you guys can come up with to make it a great meet. Of course, the Dragon drive is going to be awesome. We WILL BE FINDING A HOOTER'S WITHOUT FAIL, IT'S AN IMPERATIVE! That quite simply put, has become a tradition, and we will NOT be breaking that one.

In order to facilitate this further, I would like for a couple you guys in TN that are very familiar with those areas mentioned to contact me via email @ rcwells200269@hotmail.com .

Also, anyone that has anything at all to contribute to the success of this thing, please, contact me so that we can begin to get organized. Some have suggested sponsors, and I think we actually have had some positive response to that idea from some very nice, well-known vendors.

TJ, it would be great if you and the rest of the FL gang would commit to this thing and rally support for it. I know there are quite a few of you guys down there, and I would love to meet some of you. There are also quite a few guys from GA and AL and it would be so badass to arrange for us to meet at points along the way and grow in numbers as we get closer. I would even be willing to drive out of my way to meet you guys in AL somewhere just to caravan. Birmingham maybe?

OHHHH, what about some WHITE WATER RAFTING???? We could plan that on Saturday maybe, after the drive if time would allow? That would rock all your faces off!

I definately think the NE and SE meets should be split up, but if that is the case, the SE meet should be moved more south, central to the SE region... not in the same area where we were going to have a full on east coast meet.
The problem is that South Florida is an outlier on the whole chart. And there's nothing decent in FL to do.

And like I previously mentioned, if I'm driving to GA, I'll put in the extra miles to make it to somewhere interesting such as the Tail of the Dragon.

Yeah, the SE/NE idea makes a lot more sense to me. As far as the more central location goes, I like the Dragon idea...but can understand that it's quite a hike for some FL guys.
