    Clutch shudder when warm/in traffic

I think I’m on the original clutch, so pretty sure the diagnosis is likely worn out clutch. Car has 170k miles. Noticed slight judder for a while, but it was never serious. Today traffic was terrible and it was a LONG line of stop and go. Judder got considerably worse and made some bad sounds. I turned down some side streets to let thing cool down and got home OK. Is this a symptom of a failing clutch?

Of course it happened the same day I had my e39 towed after it died. Ugh!

    Could be-

are you leaking oil out the rear main?
I had a beater pickup that did this, and
    it was oil...

The fix is the same either way, tho.

    t
now, sometimes I just mess with people. It's more entertaining that way. george graves

I am leaking, yes. Quite a bit. Either way, transmission comes off, so will replace both :/.

My M52 does this when I'm in stop and go traffic when it's hot out. New rear main 2 years ago with no signs of leaks, figured it was the FX Racing flywheel/ 6-puck.
I adapted my driving habits in heavy traffic to use the clutch less.
